Just turned on the open coverage(1 pm) and they are constantly apologizing for an " offensive remark made as darren Clarke was finishing his round." does anybody know what he said?!?!

I believe it was a comment of if Clarke won the open then Norther Ireland should retire as a joke and said I dont know what they would do if Clarke won it after McDowell and McIlroy and the other commentator said maybe stop fighting?

I dont know which commentator it was but I think thats why they keep saying sorry

I think it was the aussie guy that said it, if that's Mark James.

I did kind of ignore it as I thought I must of misheard him.

Apparently not.

Yeah it is quality when you are shopping and bombs are going off.

He just said something about ryo ishikawa? With the ryo standing for really young oriental! :o

Thought you were talking about the berk commentating on the beeb right now, talking about Ryo Ishikawa. Ryo , pronounced Yo (errr, no, pronounced Reeyo), and stands for Really Young Oriental....... really.....

was watching yesturdays coverage and a young bloke was sitting down chatting and flirting with a blonde bit, the camara's stayed focused only to discover he was a marshal. poor sod, bang in the limelight... teh blonde bit was well tasty though ;)

It is also unwittingly ironic. Clarkey (my former clubmate) is a Protestant but happily places for Ireland, Rory's father is RC but Rory went to a state (effectively Protestant) school, and GMac is comfortably liked by both sides. All play under a variety of flags and represent all the people in NI.

So these guys are about as well integrated and as good an example to others as you could hope for.

This remark doesn't offend me as someone born and reared during the most heated period in NI, but I don't like Mark James at the best of times, because he is neither funny nor informative. He has always been an utterplonker, and always will be.

Politics doesnt mix with itself never mind sport Tim, The world would be so much better off if there were no politics... and religion.
