Hi all,

When I got custom fit for my irons I stupidly went for PW (44 deg) and SW(55 deg).

My specs were 2 deg upright with 0.5 in extra length in the shaft.

I should have included the GAP wedge as I now have a huge Gap between PW and SW.

PW -125 yds
SW -80 yds.

I have found someone selling a Gap wedge - finally.

Just wandering if it would be easier/harder to notice the difference to the custom spec irons?

Has anyone had custom spec - and then added an off the shelf iron to the set?

Maybe buy the gap wedge try it and get new shaft fitted if difference is noticeable obviously will depend on cost, can't remember last time I had matching sand wedge been using specialist wedges for quote a few years now.

Depends on the brand of the wedge. Mizuno irons tend to be a bit flatter than some other makes, so you could be fitted for something else and put in standard lie, although the extra 0.5" usually needs a 0.5 degree flatter lie, so in effect you are 2.5 degrees upright from standard.

If you order a big name wedge, you will be able to specify the lie and length.

The JPX wedge is 63* lie and 35.25" long (apart from the 60 at 35") so you would be looking at 35.75" length and 65* lie.

Thanks Ethan - pretty sure I will go with the JPX800 GW I have found to keep the consistency of looks and feel with the rest of my irons. If I get it adjusted as you calculated it should fill the gap perfectly.
