Nuneaton golf courses

Hi all - I see a few people on here are from nuneaton/cov way. I live just down the road from Oakridge & Purley Chase - wondered if anyone had opinions on those courses? Are either any good?

I've played Oakridge once, but managed to injure my wrist after 4 holes and couldn't play the rest!! But it looked nice.

Purley is a better test of golf than Oakridge,but it is nearly always windy.Best course in the Nuneaton area is Nuneaton itself,a good test of golf and normally well presented.

I had couple of games in cov area in may while on a training course Brandon woods was in good nick for a muni a fair test albeit with it seemed a lot dogleg holes. I also played the warickshire kings was very good and twilight rate £12 tremendous value. Only criticism would be it appears designed for buggies as some huge walks between holes.

not played oakridge, purley chase ok, seemed quite new in places to me.
have to agree nuneaton golf club very nice, played there 3 times last year, best score on the 9th was a double bogey, seemed a beast of a hole. Atherstone also good, unusual and quirky. bit of a marmite course. if you want to travel bit further, hinckley is also a good track

Thanks for the info guys - Last year I mostly played at Ansty as the missus got me a pay & play membership on groupon, it was ok but I wanted to play at a proper club this year, something that will improve my game... and was a little closer! Was looking at a full membership too this time.

i was a member of purley chase for a couple of years, it,s not a bad course,struggle to play it in the winter as it,s built on clay so it does,nt drain very well, but heard it,s been improved since i was there. To say the greens are a bit slopey is a bit of an understatement you,ll have some very tricky puts, not many gimmes at purley, especially on the third hole. nuneatons a good course, also atherstone isnt far away, i think paul broadhurst is or was the pro there.oakridge is another good course all good tests of golf for different reasons
