Number in Weekly Saturday Competition

Last year we usually had around 120 in the weekly Competition rising to 14050 for Captain’s Day when it was free!

We have had an influx of new members and the tee is now booked solid from 7.30a.m until 5 p.m. meaning 171 competitors. The Club have added an extra 30 minutes in the morning (9 players) and may consider adding 30 minutes at the end whilst the light is available for 9 more making 189. I have no problem with the increase.

What is the usual number at your Club and is there an optimum number?

This should raise a chuckle. We run a relaxed, stableford of the yellows on a Saturday, average around 25 -30 per week. The ladies run their comp on a Saturday and they get 15-20 playing.

Sunday is for the big boys, strokeplay off the whites, and that gets 30-35.

A bit different to most of the numbers on here ?. Great for golfers who don't want to get involved in playing comps, plenty of tee times available for them.

First medal of the year on Saturday. 213 players, fully booked from 7.30am to 6pm. 10 players on waiting list for someone to withdraw.

Club thinks we don't have demand for more weekend medals ?

In normal times it would be 168 playing in threes.

Currently slightly more as we are allowing playing in fours to accommodate as many as possible post lockdown.

We had our first optional stableford last Saturday.

128 in the mens comp and 9 in the ladies.

It would normally be a higher figure when it is not an optional comp, around 160

We get very few who want to play after about 2.30pm on a Saturday with lots of empty tee slots.
However we offer lots of opportunity to play in singles comps 3 days of the week .

We would normally run four/three balls from 7.30-11.00am as booked slots and you can then opt to go out as a roll up after the booked times so it can vary.
