Played with Fragger this afternoon and by the 9th was really hacked off with my driver again. So on the 11th I borrowed Fragger's new G20 driver. It 10.5degrees and a stock Ping regular shaft.
Not expecting much I had a swing at the ball and it sailed 250 down the fairway into position A. Hmmm...not bad..
On the 13th I tried again, this time I gave it a bit more.....
Result..? 250 down the middle...
On the next I tried once more. A poor swing saw ....250 and just off the fairway left.
3 more drives, 3 more 250 yarders down the middle.

With a regular shaft!!!!! I couldn't mess up with it. On the 14th I had a real lash at a second ball and all I did was miss the fairway right by about a yard..

I feel a new driver coming on.......and a trip to the dark side...

Agree with Murph. I borrowed a mate's G20 with a regular shaft and 10.5 deg loft. Went off like a rocket!!!

However, so did the 910 when I trialled it!

Same thing happend with my mate after years of frustration useing a stiff shaft in his driver tried a regular and has not looked back since.

Thats the last time I lend him any kit, fair creamed me on the back 9 with 24 points against my 17 to win 40 - 36.We both played some good stuff today

For what its worth, I think that with a stiff shaft he feels that he has to swing hard to get the flex working, with a regular shaft, it feels floppy so he has to slow things down
and thats whats working, a slower swing.

I think that given a sunday best swing the 910 D3 would beat the G20, But the clincher is that with the G20 even his dodgy swings produce good results, certainly nowhere near as distructive as the D3.

Welcome to the world of Floppy Shafts

Imurg Has Seen The Future.... And Its PING Shaped

Fragger :D

or reshaft your driver with a regular shaft

Why is it no one ever thinks like that they just jump on a new expensive big stick :D

Maybe because the club head plays a part in the consistency of the club..?
The shaft is important but it's not the only factor.

KER_CHING

He's talked himself into a new one :D

Seriously, he put himself in some really good positions after these tee shots

He could easily knock 2 or 3 shots off his handicap if he can sort out his driving

If it works, you cant knock it
I love my G20, but hes gonna have to get his own
:D

Fragger

You Know it makes sense

Did you also try the chipper? :D

For the record, The Chipper, (which was only in the bag to wind up Imurg and it succeeded beautifully :D ) was donated to my Father In Law (society Handicap 41- yes forty one)

It is no longer in my posession

Fragger,

:D :D

I'm testing the G20 over the weekend and looking forward to it. Trying to resist but with a Ping hybrid already in the bag the lure of the coffin dodgers weapon of choice is starting to loom large on the horizon. If the I20 are any bit as good as the I15 then it could be game set and match Ping
