Ok Guys, I whole heartedly agree with you all that Garcia really will be a superb assest to the team BUT I can see where MJW is coming from.

Not that I am concerned however imagine this...

Sergio standing over a 6fter to Win the ryder cup, you lot telling me you wouldnt be more concerened than if Padraig was over the same putt?

I am in NO-WAY knocking Sergio at all, I absolutly (for some strange reason) love him as a golfer, but you gotta admit his putting is frustrating at times.

Please dont hate me! :D

I think the point is Tony that Sergio is far better than any Englishman thats going to feature in the Ryder cup, and with that I would trust him more than your Poulters, Rose or casey for that matter, imagine Khan in that position!!! MWJ had a unjustified go at Sergio, thought he would have support and failed, simple as.

Thats not really the point at all Parmo, the point is, MJW is concerned that sergio will not putt well in the ryder cup and possibly cost us, (and I have to agree) however it could happen to anyone, but the limelight surrounding putting is certainly focused on sergio for his reputation.

Maybe stating it is because of his mental attitude was unjust and its actually because he is a duff putter compared to everyone else!

Congratulations to Harrington! Great stuff. Let's hear nothing about the absence of you know who. I'm already looking forward to Augusta next year.
BTW, Garcia is a knob. An arrogant t***, if you prefer. Sergio may be popular here but if some of you had read his comments to the Spanish press about certain things, I'm sure you'd change your minds. I know I'm repeating a previous post but I know an excellent young player here who insists that Garcia is a w*****!

Thanks Tony, glad to see that some can see that I have not launched a character assassination on their beloved Sergio, just a concern that his putting could end up costing the european ryder cup team points.

How what I said can be deemed "an unjustified go" at Sergio is frankly absurd, an unjustified go would be to call him a knob-head (which in my eyes he definately is not) or something. That is having a pop, not criticising somebody's ability to putt under pressure.

Garcia is a great ryder cup player- i do not have any worries about his playing in the Ryder Cup his record speaks for its self. He loves the team environment and loves beating the yanks.

And i also think Garcia & Harrington are such driven players they will drive their teammates on in the Ryder Cup.

I agree entirely that I wouldn't be comfortable with Sergio having to hole a pressure putt, however a Ryder Cup team without him would have more trouble than one with him. There is no doubt his ball striking will win more points than his putting/ temperament will loose.

Yes Sergio should be in the team! He is a great player and steps it up a level every Ryder Cup.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Lee Westwood and if he should be in the team, I know he is top of the picks but he is playing some awful golf, he cant putt!!! I reckon he peaked too early and would be a liability in the Ryder Cup.

Garcia's Ryder Cup record tells you he knows how to hole pressure putts. Just like Monty, if he putted in a Major the way he does in the RC, he'd have a hatful of them by now.

No-one questioned Monty's place...

I can't say I like Garcia as a person, but tee-to-green there is hardly any better. But as Harrington and Woods have shown, tee-to-green is worth a lot less than being a great pitch 'n' putter unfortunately.

I'd be absolutely amazed if Garcia ever cost us the RC - there's a long list of other players who I would expect to balls it up long before Sergio.
