......... With injury.

I'm still having issues from a previous injury (http://forums.golf-monthly.co.uk/sh...sn-t-look-good!&highlight=Gareth+doesn't+good).

After an MRI at the start of this year it was diagnosed as nerve and ligament damage. I've had issues on and off through the year then last night it went completely when I was getting out of the bath. I say issues on and off, but more off than on and it's been pretty settled. The odd flare up but nothing serious and always went after rest.

Back to the doctors to start the rigmarole of getting treatment again.

As it stands I've put my splint back on to help rest it and I'm going to start with he pain killers and 'brufen until I can get an appointment sorted.

The most disappointing thing is I've been playing well, had a great lesson Thursday and really felt I was moving forward, now I'm back out again for who knows how long

I suppose I can always work on my putting

sounds painful and very frustrating I am sure you have been getting advice from all angles and hopefully from an NHS or private physio or sports therapist. R.I.C.E is very useful for soft tissue damage. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Do this to reduce the discomfort especially after exercises and eventually when playing again. Do you have a stress ball or similar to slowly manipulate and strengthen the tendons/muscles? Build up very slowly and RICE it after each session and build up to stronger hand grips over time and only when the pain/swelling is minimal after using a stress ball. Chinese stress balls could also help manipulate the tendons without any resistance.

Bad luck buddy, pack yourself in cotton wool over the winter
Then emerge chrysalis like in the spring, sometimes you just have to wait as rushing back may make it worse :(

Minor update.

Pain free and have full mobility back today. R.I.C.E seems to have done the trick alongside strong pain killers and ibuprofen.

I think I'm going to take this week off just to make sure and work on my putting.

I think this whole injury is a reaction to me doing too much on it. I think, going forward, I'll have to manage my practice better and how often I hit the range. I think this is what's causing me issues (overuse).

Good to hear it is feeling better. Just one other point, don't use painkillers before you practice or you may mask discomfort that could lead to overuse and further injury.
