So, in Saturday's stableford, I started by declaring on the tee, "I'm feeling good about this. I want to get to 13 by August, so I'm going to get cut today!".

Proceeded to take a 6 at the easy opening 1st. But then found my game and shot an 85, with 39 points. Scored on every hole (came 2nd to 43 points) and was delighted. I've not hit the ball as well in years!

Then the bombshell - non-qualifier. So I get to try and do it all again in next month's medal! :(

Was it supposed to be a qualifier?

It can be called a non-qualifier in the way that a big percentage of people failed to reach the buffer zone. This would sent the CSS up by 3 or more and prevent them from going up .1 but should result in the round being Reduction Only so you should have got a bigger cut than you thought.

I think it should have been, but because we were off 10 mats (which didn't really occur to me at the time), it can't be a qualifier.

I am waiting the same fate. I can't help feeling that my 43 points will be worth zip. 4 hours in the freezing rain, grinding out a score for nothing. Hopefully I will get the email from HDID later, and it will be ok.

Feel for you Bratty.

They should announce these things before you tee off. That way you would know where you stand. I wouldn't play. I already knew there was a 45 points in the club house, so I knew a win for me was not going to be there.

I share your pain. My last three rounds have been 42,45 and 46 points. Only the 42 was in a (non qualifying) comp though. The winter of practice has definitely paid off so I can't wait for the season to start. I'll soon scale the heady heights of mediocrity

My advice is to keep your cards. Then in the spring when you have a good round, give your h/cap sec all your cards.
This will help you get chopped to a level that truely reflects your current playing ability.
If they still wont chop you, at least you've tried.
Unless of course...............

I'm in the funny position of being in a "book" that the handicap secretary has... it's a book that people who he believes should be cut go into! :)

So he'll be rubbing his hands at that score already. No need to keep the evidence!

Jesus we are off 14 matts and are playing qual comps.. Bloody 0.4 back this winter already!!
So then what defines it as qualifier or non-qualifier? Is it up to the club?

Bratty, I feel for you pal. Just when you think you're in for a nice cut out comes the 'NQ'.

A mate of mine had a shocker last year. He scored 47 points in a stableford comp (1 over playing off 12), albeit it was off a much shorter course. Not only did he later find out it was deemed a non qualifier, but he also came second on countback

UP1.

Length of the course I think
Reckon we've shaved about 250 yards off the distance assuming all tees back as far as possible. Probably more like 180 yards averaging tee positions.
That's probably enough to see it be a non-qualifier.

Good scoring Bratty, and congrats Murph. I look forward to playing with 2 sfg's now at Woodhall :)

I scored 44pts off 11 just after I'd joined the club, then found out later they didn't have any quals for the 6 months that the white tees were in
