I was gutted to hear about this when I woke up this morning. He directed so many great action films;

Man on Fire (one of my favourite films)
True Romance
Top Gun
Deja Vu
Enemy of the State

to name a few

Not timeless classics, but great action films. I'm going to watch Man on Fire tonight in tribute (time permitting)
