hi guys

just back from my last comp of the year , shooting gross 82(+10) for 44 points off 17.5 , which should take me down to 15.4(that right?) and i came 3rd in the comp! some lad off 11 shot 73 (+1) and another shot 75 off 13 !

however i only hit 4 fairways and 7 greens ! chipping and putting was superb , just goes to show the short game really is key.

extremly pleased though as my target for the end of summer was 18 and i beat it by 3 :D

sorry guys i just had to tell someone :D

anyone else had a good day ?

Shame you can't combine the golf and the rugby over the winter. my club has events all year round (weather permitting). Nice finish though and don't worry about the others coming in with better scores. You can't do anything about that

I had a nice finish today, a two-putt birdie on this hole:

Portmore 18th
did you drive that ?

I'm afraid so yes. It's not a straight hole mind it doglegs around the lake and the tee is elevated, which helps, but even so I've never contemplated it before. However the preceeeding 17 holes were so bad I figured I might as well go out death or glory style and for once the wind was only from the left, not straight on like it usually is. And I hit (and REALLY hit it!) perfect. Just hung onto the back left corner of the green which left a very long putt all the way across the green, over and down a ridge in the middle and given I'd already 4-putted from inside 12 feet earlier that day I wasn't particularly confident about even walking off with a par! Happily the first putt was decent for once and rolled to within a foot of the hole.

And I still lost to three 28-handicappers, one of whom rolled in with 45 points (and beat me by 4 shots gross, which is fair enough I guess).
