You're getting bought a two day ticket for next years Open and you've been asked whether you want Thursday & Friday or Saturday & Sunday.

Cost no object

What do you go for?

All things being equal, I would go Thurs/Fri otherwise you won't see Tiger when he misses the cut

We've done 2 days at the Open for a number of years. Thursday and Sunday. Thursday will guarantee you'll see your favourites before the cut, and its quieter than Friday, when so many take the day to extend their weekend. Sunday is usually very quiet apart from the last few groups.

Thursday/Friday so that you have more choice in groups to follow and most likely less people there. I went to the last day at Muirfield in 2013 and found it difficult to view at times just because the amount of people there, but the Friday of that week was better.

Plus I feel that if you watch the last group on Sunday then you can miss a lot of action if someone else comes through the field to win, I'd rather watch in the house and see all the action happen.

I wouldn't be too fussed, I've still never been to any event and seen the Pro's play in real life :(

Perhaps consider a practise day if an option. I went to RSG one year on a wednesday, and followed various playing, was nice as they were fairly relaxed on the course and it was not mega busy.

Failing that I would go Thur/Friday as if you have TV coverage of the open, I would rather see all of it.

I've been multiple times now on Thursday, Friday & Saturday, similarly for the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, because I kept getting told the same thing from people "Don't go on the weekend and watch it on the telly"

I've regretted listening to such advice every time. Next year I'm going on the Sunday. I really missed the atmosphere after being there for the build up to the final day, being sat at home and in the pub when I was thinking "I could have gone back" is miserable.
