It does not take some kind of genius to realise that Woods and Mickleson would not play well together, again most posters on here could have worked that one out. And I'm not sure that the US ever had the majority of the best players in recent times if you take Woods out of it, who never performs well in Ryder Cups anyway,as his heart is obviously not really in it. The Europeans had plenty of major winners to call on in the past.
And almost every other major sporting tournament lasts way longer than 3 days where players can lose form, get injured, come up against different formations, have to adjust their tactics mid match etc etc. You don't even have to think about what your opponent will do or what tactics they will use or how they will play in a Ryder Cup as you don't know who it will be. How easy does that make it!
And as for the player permutations then I'm sure most posters on here can pretty much tell you what the major pairings will be for the next European Ryder Cup team now as they will be very similar to the ones used this year. Apart from Poulter who will be a vice captain.
Funny how the players either raved about their captain or said how bad he was. (Depending on which team they played for) But what do they know? Obviously a bunch of forum sages know better than the actual protagonists.
