Hi all, thought I'd just drop by to introduce myself quickly. Have just decided to re-take up the game after a 10 year absence. Bought myself my first 'own' set of clubs (Wilson x-31 latest model - I know you will all say I should've bought 2nd hand quality...) and have played 4 rounds so far; 103-93-93-98 but I can see a lot of positives from the first few rounds, inconsistency being my biggest issue (and truely woeful putting)
Anyway, been lurking for a few days and seems good natured in here, and might be a place that can help me along on my journey.
I live in Canterbury and have been playing at boughton/Austin lodge but am keen to hear about other courses worth looking at. Am lacking 'golf buddies' which could prove to be a big challenge as it's always more fun going round with mates. solo golf is a good mental challenge but can do with a distraction now and again!

Apologies for the autobiography...

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to golf.
I'm sure you'll pick up lots of games in the "arrange a game" section and meet new golfing buddies.
Feel free to get stuck in on the threads too.

Now, about your woeful putting.....
How can we help? :)

Welcome Bucky - don't be afraid to ask any question from us knowledgeable lot. Most have a golfing handicap, but we can all talk off scratch :D

Thanks all! Re:putting, I just have no feel for the putt. I'm quite confident with short pitching and chipping around the green, I have a picture in my head of what I want the ball to do, and occasionally I can actually get the ball to do as I ask! :D I find putting a lot harder to visualise and the with delicate nature of it I find harder to judge. I can't read a green for love nor money, and I've kind of got to the point where from 10 feet or more I just aim at the hole and try to leave it close enough to finish.

I need a few routines/things to focus on to try to get a 'method' of some sort. I never used to remove my glove before putting, I have taken to that as a way of focusing on the put as a 'special' shot, if that makes any kind of sense.

Cheers all for your time.

Bucky, if you are trying to lag it close enough for a 2 putt from 10 feet, you need help.
Do you have a video of you putting by any chance?

help is exactly what I need! :D
No video as yet but will try to get one sorted. as I said above - I've been away from the game for quite some time so it may just be a case of getting some rhythm back and some muscle memory. Hopefully its not all in my head...
