Dear all,

These new Wilson Di9s seems to be creating quite a lot of interest... I guess it helps when your brand ambassador wins back-to-back Majors! Anyway, the irons are currently with our photographer, when we get them back at the start of next week I'll give them a test and get back to you. For now, I've been sent a few details by Wilson:

A combination of wide soles, lower blade heights, lightweight shaft options and thin faces mean these should offer extra distance. The Di9s also have the highest MOI of any Wilson iron. This boils down to less twisting at impact for a more consistently accurate strike. Interestingly Wilson say that the sweetspot is 'toe-friendly'. According to them 85% of mis-hits come from the toe so this should help most golfers. A urethane insert in the head should reduce vibrations for a better overall feel.

As you probably already know we're approaching the equipment launch phase of the season with all the big brands releasing new kit. We've had a look at the vast majority of it now so I'll pen some thoughts in a blog and post it this afternoon.

Regards,

Cheers Neil, what handicap golfers have these been aimed at? Are they a straight replacement of the Di7 Irons?

Sounds good- Cheers for the update, I look forward to the blog.

Do you have any idea how they are going to make it toe friendly as such? Just as a quick guess I would think they will stick more weight behind the toe but would this not have a similar effect to a weighted driver in changing how fast either end of the club travels though the air. And perhaps cause problems with peoples swings and how consistent their strike is with good swings/ shots perhaps causing the club face to close, whilst admittedly helping on poorer swings?

Or have I completely barked up the wrong tree / misunderstood the concept?

Been having another look at the pics, they have moved the V shape behind groves further towards the toe, that will help prevent slices and bad shots out the toe, apart from that they look nearly exactly the same.

Still prefer the looks of my Di7, cant wait to read the review.
