new wedges, where to start and......where's the value?

When i got fitted i also went for the 4 degree gap - so have PW at 46 , then GW at 50 , SW at 54 and LW at 58 - LW isnt always in the bag.

I went for the TM ZTP wedges to match the irons i was getting - i really like the weight on them and havent as yet found any to better them for me

But here is multiple choices out there - not sure where you live but the Cleveland/Srixon set up at Studley Wood is very good to visit

My pw is 46 then I have bridgestone j 40 52 and 58. Does me just fine, learn to hit different shots of varying lengths and personally I don't see the need for any more than this!
Obviously each to their own!
The j40 wedges are special with a dg spinner shaft and can be found cheap on ebay etc.. The icy golf service does look good tbh. Probably best chatting with him?

I recently bought a set of Vokeys SM4s which are superb. I have 9 iron, 42°, & wedges 46°, 50° & 58. The first two have 8° of bounce and the 58° has 12°. The 58 I use as a sand wedge & the high bounce works great. The gap between the 50 & 58 I don't find a problem because, however your wedges are configured, you're still going to have to hit half & three quarter shots at some stage. Essential, in my view, to have a high bounce sand wedge, which also glides through thick rough.

I like having 4 wedges in the bag.
Amp Cell pw 44/gw 49/
trusty rusty sw 55 /lw 59

I think decide if you want or need 3 or 4 then sort even spacings from there.

Thanks for all the input, I am struggling to find a PW to match the set, and even harder to find three Clevelands in stock in the same store. Love the look of the Icy wedges, but two trips north from Surrey is a bit of a bind. Time to head off to eBay and check out the j40s!

Just had my ICY wedges face re sand blasted and polished up by Iain and they look as good now as they did when I first got them. All part of his 1st class service. So now they will be put away till April and use the 588 for practise.

Another vote for ICY wedges. As one of the first here to get them and write up the review here, I can't recommend Iain high enough. His service is second to none, and the wedges are fantastic. Mine are coming up for the year, and I haven't even had them back for a face clean yet (must do that soon) but they still spin just as good as they did at first.

And I thank you for bringing it to my attention NMW, if it wasn't for reading your post, I'd still be playing the 588s.

In my RSi's my PW is only 44 degrees so I have a gap wedge (49.5 degrees) and the dedicated Sand wedge (55 degrees).
I have purchased a Vokey 58 degree for the time being to help get me out of really wet sand or very deep greenside pot bunkers, (which does seems to be working), but I'm looking for the matching RSi lob wedge at 60 degrees so that I have a matching set.
Purely personal, but I have always preferred to have my wedges matching my main irons.
It was much simpler when you just had a PW and SW though!!

After seeing the Rsi1 wedge today, thats a fine choice smiffy! They look awesome!

Paid Iain a visit at ICYGolf last night for my first wedge refresh since purchasing them last year. To be honest, I've played mine since purchase last February and was still getting good spin, hence the reason I hadn't bothered with a refresh. Just decided to do it as the new season is around the corner. I didn't really know what to expect, but I didn't expect this...... I probably should have taken a before pic to show the dings and scratches that are no longer present.

I cannot overstate how good a service Iain gives. The wedges were re-polished and faces sandblasted to look like new, he even scrubbed up the grips to look and feel like new as well. You can get this treatment for your clubs every three months or so at no charge in the first year, whenever you feel it is needed. An ICYgolf purchase is a true pleasure to experience.
