Anyone know of any national tyre places (or any local ones in Swindon area) that are decent on tyre prices inc fitting??

Got Kwikfit online @ £127 a corner at the moment. :(

Does the speed rating make a real difference??

Dropping to a W rating knocks £30 a corner off the price. Wasn't planning on doing 168mph anytime soon anyway?? :D

I always use Event. They are mobile, so I can get the tyres done in the car park at work, and as cheap as any.

I always think you should get the correct rating and brand etc, as this is the only bit of the car in contact with the road. Silly to skimp on it, when there is so much at stake.

Could not agree with this more. Which is why I won't buy real budget tyres. I always get at least mid-range branded one. (Currently on Pirelli P6000's)

I used Event for my last set and was happy with the speed of service and price.

I looked at Bridgestone, Pirelli and Michalin and chose Michelin PS2, 255/35 R19Y.

I do recall reading once that if you don't fit the recommended rated tyre, this could be used by your insurance company to reduce or even refuse any claim you might make.

True or not, I don't know - but it's a thought.
