On the look out for a new TV, been advised to get a 60 or 65 inch but have been put off by the prices of the OLED models!!

We will be watching movies etc so do you think its essential to be getting an OLED tv these days, I have been warned off getting a 'cheaper' tv because at 60 or 65 inch the picture quality will be rather poor.

Any good recommendations? Ideally I dont want to spend anymore than £1500 which I think makes it very difficult to get an OLED.

Do NOT look at Dcdigital at Poole.

My mate did all the research on TVs curry’s had LGOLED 55C for 1500 but the price has increased to £1800.

There is a company on EBay kc sounds or something similar, highly recommended.

I have just bought an LG OLED 55C and it is brilliant.

Makes a difference who is supplying your feed. For instance Virgin's V6 box broadcast in HDR, which gives a far greater range of colours and can improve picture quality no end.
Whereas Sky don't. So no point spending extra on a TV that has HDR but it goes unused.
If you're spending that amount of money then do some research and get the best value for your bucks.

We've got a 55" 4k LG, about £800. It upscales the picture for non-4k. Its a big step up from the 1080p HD Sony we had.

if you had straight choice between sky and virgin is that enough to sway it in virgins favour?

Having seen the difference in picture quality it might be. But other considerations such as the multiroom functionality of the Q system may take precedence.

All I'm saying is that there's little point in paying extra (or being persuaded to by some shop seller) to have a HDR set if Sky is your preferred supplier.

cheers, just asking as a "down the road decision" to be taken when we move

I feel it’s all very well having bigger pictures, but you need a better quality source to get the best as blemishes are highlighted so much more.
I still run a 46” Panasonic plasma, and even on that size the difference between normal output and hd picture quality is very noticeable.
Its also very easy to overpower a room with too large a screen, with closer seating for viewing being almost impossible.

I've just gone through this whole process and looked at all the options but my budget was £600 max. In the end I went for an LG 55UJ750 which John Lewis had dropped in price then we got a further discount as the stepson has a discount card. I did look at 65" but decided it would be too overpowering for our room although there was a great deal on at Costco for a HiSense
H65N5300 at about the same price. I chose the LG not just on the size but that the WebOS interface was reckoned to be the best, it came with the magic remote (which is great btw) and I could also get Freesat HD and Freeview HD that I could record from using an external hard drive.

I would suggest that you think about what you really want from a TV, look at all the standard specs and then take a decision from there. We've got Netflix and their UHD and Dolby Vision programmes do give excellent pictures.

The bigger the TV gets the picture quality will reduce only oled can handle a superb pic without losing quality over 50", I went with the qled 10bit hdr Samsung and I regret it every time I see a true oled, bought from richer sounds its my 3rd TV from there and I won't buy anywhere else now they now there stuff and won't rip you off
