OLED does produce a better picture quality as you can see in the showroom but it really is marginal - since you wont have both sets side by side you wont notice a difference if you get a good (Sony, Panasonic etc) non-OLED version.
We went for a non-oled Panasonic at 58inch. The TV's come with a factory setup that is for showroom displays so has everything cranked up high. Once we spent a few minutes adjusting the picture settings (plenty of advice on-line) it is fine and at a comfortable distance colours resolution etc is great.
