Hi Folks,

I recently posted about going through a club fitting at Ping - See Here.

Well, new toys have arrived. Played Captain's Day today (glad they are waterproof!), good for a first outing although a bit of time needed to sort yardages etc properly.

Love ping clubs….but bloody nora. Got enough woods in the bag?:D

I know what you mean (and I'm sure the marketing folks realise the value of head-covers so they seem to have been growing and growing in size in recent years!)

I really struggle with long irons so the 6i is as far as the bag goes, hybrids then until the 3w.

Cheating I know, but seems to get the ball from tee to green best for me!

And that is exactly what this game is all about!

I tried a G25 3 wood last week in AG, very nice weapon. I'm tempted..................

Looks like what YE Yang's bag would be if he went to Ping

EDIT: Forgot to mention that they look excellent all the same!

SVB, when you had the fitting did they not tell you how far each club was going so they are properly gapped. Or have you found that you are hitting them different distances from what they told you?

Just curious as I thought the fitting process would have given you pretty exact yardages for each club you were fitted for

I see you've got the G25 20deg hybrid,I've got one too and find it really easy to hit and get good distance. Your clubs look great and I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

Yes, and the 17* is approx a 2i or 5w equivalent and I find it much, much easier to hit than a 5w, especially out of 'iffy lies.

Simon.

Didn't quite work like that. Have fitting specs for all clubs I hit (7i, all hybrids, 3w, driver) but spent time refining spec. So, I have those as reference points but just need to sort intermediate irons n wedges.

Lovely write up on the fitting thread, and great pics here.

Notice you've a biggish gap between 20 and 27 deg, so looks like your missing 8-10 yards, which I assume is what you alluded to in the fitting post? Wondered how you're compensating?

I'm looking at a Ping set up myself, but will post separately rather than hijack your thread, sir!

It is a big gap but simple fact was there was only about 7 or 8 yds between 27 and 23, could of gone both but not worth it as would have cost me a wedge. Played 3 times at w/end and can't say it was a real problem, leaned on 27 couple of times, into wind tended to climb a bit so following time took a bit off the 20 with a good result. Prob need to learn to hit 27 low and 20 high which will fill gap with 'normal' pace swing so more repeatable. Other than that, no probs.
