I had my 1st golf lesson back in January and played my 1st round at the weekend scoring an impressive 152!!

Highlights include,

Carding not only a 14 but also a 13 and a couple of 12’s
Losing 6 balls
5 putting the 9th
Hitting 1 green in regulation

I would have loved to have been in the fourball behind you

I was really lucky that there wasnt anyone following me. I'm not sure I could have taken the shame of hacking it that badly with other people watching.

Don't worry about it. You aren't playing noticeably different to Smiffy, and he's been playing for years.

Welcome to the forum mate, i'm new too having taken it up at the end of last summer and had rounds like yourself but it has steadily came down to around the 100 mark and the more you play the easier it will get. dont get downheartened as the only way is up. aim for 8 a hole then 7,6 and then my goal of 5(averages)

the way to look at a score of 152,is that it can only get better, surely! welcome to our wonderful(frustrating???) game!

I also meant to add that I watch Leadbetters beginner to winner dvd to help me get the basics and it has helped me loads.

amazing mate, hit a shot from well off the green full bore and it landed a few feet from the pin and parred it for the 1st time as it's a card wrecker off a hole, never been less than 6 before. Love it

If your not having regular lessons, do you self a favour and get onto videojug and watch the Rikard Strongert Videos, especially This one , and this one

That one green in regulation would be the hook to get me back out on the course the next time. The beauty of the game is that we know we can do it, whether it's GIRs, a flushed drive or a pitch to 3ft. Just one of those a round keeps me coming back for more!
