New Powakaddy Batteries ?? Advice pls...

Have had my Powakaddy Freeway Digital for nearly 2yrs now, with pretty regular use, and my Battery seems to be severely slowing after 15holes now

Is that normal for a trolley Battery ?

If so, and I need a new one,......what does anyone suggest ?
Go with an original PK replacement ? (Pro charges £69.95 !)
Or source a similar one ?

My brother in law had an identical problem with his but that was after 4 years but if you play twice as often as he did then 2 years is fair.

Your nearest pro shop will be able to quote you on a generic battery to which you can add a suitable PK adaptor but if I had forked out on a PK I would keep my servicing and replacements to the original standard.

My original battery lasted about 4 years of playing on average twice a week. When it went kaput I bought a cheapie on the net for about 35 quid which lasted just long enough to run out of warranty. I then bit the bullet and bought another PK one this spring. I rhink your better to spend the extra.

I used to get these problems witha other battery powered units - mowers, sprayers etc.
One of my electronic lecturer colleagues told me all batteries eventually get dead spots. As he explained it this occurs at the level you normally run them down to, ie if you use 60 % of the Charge eventually the battery will only charge to 40%.
The best we to get around this is to regularly wire up a simple bulb onto the battery and make it 100% flat.

I have always done this with all batteries i use, with no problems.

I got a new battery at the start of the season, I went for a cheeper make insead of a PK battery, but it just wasn't strong enough, it burnt out, so had to go for the PK one in the end. £70 is about right unless you know someone who can get them cheeper. But as I always say, you get what you pay for.

Don't buy cheap, you are better off buying a PK one. I have had a cheapmake, got little more than 6 months out of it, so now have a 36 hole one, cost £88 and it gets used 3-4 times a week and never lets me down, I even got 45 holes out of it last week.

Our Pro Michael Bannon sells Energy Pro Gel batteries, they are some of the best you can get and if you dont mind paying 55-70 quid, they will outlast standard batteries.
