As someone who watches Squash i find this rather ridiculous. Squash players are some of the fittest of any. Its an easy sport to follow, spectacular to watch and easy to televise.

Wholeheartedly agree regarding the fitness of squash players but have to disagree on the sport as a spectator sport.

Has been tried in the past but the confined nature of the court and speed of the ball make virtually impossible to follow on TV.

Mind you compared with breakdancing......!

Viewing on TV has improved with a white ball on coloured glass courts. There's a PSA channel on You Tube that shows all the big tournaments and i watch a lot of it and its easy enough to follow the ball.
 
Squash is a great sport but it is hard as a spectator sport because it’s very quick but it should be an Olympic sport

Break dancing will be just like the Rhythmic Gymnastics- won’t watch it but I expect loads will because street dance etc is very popular
 
You have to wonder what sports would get in now if they started from scratch again seeing as TV seems to hold so much sway. And there does seem to have been a spate of trendy sports included in recent times.
 
Is breakdancing being proposed because it’s in Paris and let’s be honest the French are..... strange

Their pop culture is like 90’s America
 
I struggle not to get a bit grumpy about the new wave of fashion events that are now in the summer and winter Olympics. Easy to avoid when it comes on but I can't help feeling it demeans what an Olympic medal is.
 
Breakdancing an Olympic sport... Come on really what idiots vote these things in.. First thing is its not a sport so how does something that isn't sport get into something that's supposed to be the pinnacle of any athletes or sporting stars career. To me it demeans the value of what the Olympics is supposed to be. May as well get Terry Crews and the Wayans brother's to go and recreate the white chick's dance off scene..

Can you imagine being someone that's put in years of blood, sweat, tears and overcome injury set backs effectively walking away with a gold medal for their sport then being mentioned in the same breath as breakdancer or realising their astonishing achievement effectively becomes no greater than someone who can do a backspin to a Run DMC track..

Now if they had said they were including Parkour as an Olympic sport then I'd be impressed they moved with the times and included a sport that requires, skill, stamina, strength and some serious balls to perform. But break dancing.. I best stop my rant now.
