hi, only been playing 6 months and just thought I'd ask if Tour edge clubs are any good as I got rid of the freebie set i was given by a mate and bought what I thought were a bargain of tour edges. Never heard of them before but they were brand new and cheapish. they have rifle 5.5 shaftes on them with headcovers for the woods and hybrids.I have never broke 100 yet(101 a few times but down from my 145 start). anyway, sorry for rambling on but are these clubs anygood for very high handicappers. love the game and looking for help. thanks. :D

ps - if I 've posted in the wrong section please move :o

Welcome to the forum, someone will correct me if im wrong but I think they are good quality clubs. They make good money on ebay anyway, I think they are more popular in the US. You cant go far wrong for a starter set. Hope all goes well as you gain a bit of golfing experience :D

Hi and welcome to the forum. I have never heard of them to be honest but i started out with cheap stuff i found at car boots and a £25 cheap set of irons from Argos. There is nothing wrong with starting out with a cheap set until you get a bit better and depending on how competitive you plan to become they may do you for years to come. I have just upgraded most of my kit as i am improving alot now and i thought the time was right as i have just started lesson and am joining a club hopefully this weekend.

Enjoy the forum and there are plenty of people on here who can help you if you have any questions :D

As far as I know they are only available through pro shops and seem to be well regarded by the pro's who stock them.

Welcome to the best sport and the best forum!!

When you're learning any clubs are OK in my opinion. Your main aim is to get a repetative swing. Once you've nailed that then you can enter the world of shiny new bats every six months.. :D

thanks for the welcomes, just had a look on ebay and think i got a bargain.I bought them from a guy who got them through his insurance after a garage fire. never asked any questions and he accepted a lot less than what i've seen on the site. hopefully i'll break a 100 this year.

You can buy Tour Edge kit online, they are very good.

The Golf Shop online
Definately got a bargain, bought the lot for less than £200 and it still had the wrapping on the clubs. the guy had never heard of them either and was asking for offers over £200 in our papershop window and took mine straight away as I didnt want the bag.

Alec,

Welcome to the forum. Where do you play about ?
hi, joined Elmwood, near Cupar as my mates play there and I was left out. Only reason I took the game up to be honest as i always had to wait on them finishing so thought I'd give it a go and now i'm the keenest one amongst us.

Welcome to the forum Alec.
I've just had a look at your clubs and I see a few issues.
1. You have 15 clubs
2. You have 2x3 irons and 2x4 irons
3. You have a PW, then 60 degrees and a 64 Deg

Your PW is probably 46-48 degrees so a big jump to the 60.

As you're in Fife, I suggest you go along to your local pro and ask for his advice.
Where are you in Fife?

Welcome Alec,
Bobs spot on you've got 15 clubs in the bag there.....Starting out you might want to ditch the 3 & 4 iron and maybe hold onto the Hybrids as they'll be a little easier to hit and should be more forgiving....
I would also get rid of the 60 & 64 deg wedges and replace them with maybe a 52 & 56
I dont see the point in having specialist lob wedges starting out they'll do more harm than anything to your game.

Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy it. Do not be scared to ask absolutely anything, someone will have an answer and they are never short of an opinion. :)

Re: New member & golfer

Alec, welcome into our cyber clubhouse. You will find this place rather addictive and I am sure it will have you roaring with laughter as well as screaming at your monitor.

Re: New member & golfer

Welcome along. My pro stocks them Tour Edge and rates them so you may well have got a bargain. I'd check your club count though as you don't want to be DQ'd for carrying too many. Stick around. It is a great place to be

Re: New member & golfer

sorry, they are 5 - pw irons. Never noticed. the wedges were a fiver each and bought them to fill the bag to be honest. cheers for the welcomes and hope i can add to the forum although any advice I could give would be best avoided until i get some years under the belt but i'll try.

Re: New member & golfer

Tour edge definitely is decent kit, more renowned across the pond than in Britain though. If I remember correctly Luke Donald is one pro using an 'exotics' 3 wood and I know a couple of the better players at my club use their fairways. You've definitely picked up a bargain, enjoy the clubs and the forum.
