Hi guys,
Fairly new to the forum.
I'm looking for some new irons and currently play TM MC Forged with S300 shaft.
Any suggestions? Im off to Tour X in a few weeks but thought Id ask in advance.
If it helps I have a quick swing and am a 'decent' ball striker. Handicap is 11 but that is due to abject putting.

Cheers

Why do you need to new irons. ?

Because if people only swapped golf equipment every 20 years then the whole industry would collapse, prizes for major tournaments would shrink and the game would wither and die

Only joking. Perhaps said person works bloody hard and just fancies a new set of clubs to make them feel better. After all, you can't take it with you. So I say why not.

And in response the the original question then the official GM forum response will be go and get custom fitted, preferably by a pro that knows your game, try a different manufacturers out, don't get fitted at the Belfry after January, don't believe TM hype, etc etc;)

Fair question...I got fitted for them and liked the ball flight on the monitor etc, however once Id got them on the course I find I hit the ball too high and struggle to 'work' them. I switched from CB695's with PX5.5 and wish I hadn't now (got rid of the clubs)

That's fair enough.

Mentioned a few in other thread

AP2's

Rocketbladz

I20's

What manufacturers are in your local pro shop ?
S55's

TM's and Ping mainly.
Not so keen on the TM as they just seem to send everything soaring which isn't much use where I play!

Give the I20's or S55's a go then mate. If not then the AP2's

I have found fittings and shop pro advice useful but not the be all and end all. The best thing I did was decide to sell my 'fitted' set and go second hand-I bought sets on E-Bay and if I didn't get on with them then I sold them and tried something else. It allowed me to try a range of clubs and maybe more importantly shafts on course/in real life as opposed to driving range or simulators. Not sure many will agree with this approach but I'm now happy with my irons and I was really unhappy with the brand new custom set I had!

FWIW I also hit the S300 VERY High-found KBS Tour Stiff and PX 6.0 a better option for a lower flight.

Cheers! What are the J40's like? They look stunning

They are great. I actually demo'd both the DPC and cavity back versions and the simulator said the DPC's were better. Found the CB's on E-bay and took a chance and they are great. Nice soft feeling, quite forgiving too. I hit them consistently well, a club longer than most others and can shape a shot with them which I really couldn't do before. I am a real Bridgestone convert-they are not available many places but really worth a try if you can.
