This is part of that focus group feedback, it's not the sole research...we're feeding this out across the market, to different demographics.

Apologies if that's how it's come across. We use forums a huge amount for feedback on our sites. Golfing forums seem to be a little different, by the sounds of things.

I'll be gone if that's how it's been taken.

Bye.

How do your focus groups go in person, do you just walk into a bar, not introduce yourself properly and ask questions?
Ive been to focus groups run by guinness (Diageo) in the past and was paid £30 quid plus a few pints on the house, what do we get here for helping fine tune a brand? Totally serious question and not a piss take.

As mentioned by others the prices are nothing to write home about. However in an attempt to be constructive...

The range of items & brands carried need to be increased most of the thumnail are of a reasonable quality & its easy enough to navigate, but you do need to spend some time in the clothing section putting in subdevisions. For instance imagine I only want to look at trousers, there is no seperate option to view all trousers or those of a particular manufacturer, this needs addressing. At the moment the accessories section enables me to find that belt or whatever, but if you do improve the lines carried & for a greater selection of budgets too, then you may well have problems with people finding what they need quickly.

Now budgets & those people are on, as prices really are something that is needed to be worked on to be competetive & a greater range from low end up to the high end need to be cattered for to make the site worthwhile to visit.

For instance its winter & I'm not going to want to wear my best clobber all over the winter & the only way currently I might purchase high end stuff is if I can see something in it for me, in a sale item or spending so much on bog standard low end gear allowes me a good percentage off a high quality gament or item such as a GPS system. Or you can reverse that in that if I were to say be looking at that GPS & consider buying it, not only would I want to get those additional related items at a good price, I'd be expecting a reduction on everything else in the store, as I'd be parting with a high amount of wonga.

Oh by the way I don't buy online never have never will, but I will windowshop online so it is good that your company has included a phone number.

I swill say though that its not really the right time for a buisiness like this to be starting out as people are going to be getting very choosy where they part with what little disposable cash they have & a new site that is unproven is not going to be high on the list for places to shop.

But good luck anyway.

I would add that the brand really seems to jar with the site and the range.

"Golf stuff" makes the site sound like a discount golf site, and the design of the site suggests that this assumption is correct, but then when you look at the brands and the prices it is to the contrary.

Know your customer, target your customer and brand it correctly. If you want to target top end, rebrand appropriatly. If you want to target discount golfers, reprice appropriatly.

And on the subject of knowing your customer, surely its obvious that coming on a site like this needs a much gentler approach. Pissing off your core customer is not a good start for selling to them. Whilst I am happy to give constructive feedback Golf monthly hold many of our details from tick box opt ins. If you want our feedback the more appropriate route would be the official one.

I'm sorry but it is abundantly clear to me that this is nothing more than an advertising campaign for what is a poorly named, poorly constructed and uncompetitively priced site.

As mentioned before would you go up to a stranger in your clubhouse and blurt out that you had a new site and he really must look at it. Far better to mention to a few golfing pals first in conversation (in other words get involved with the forum first, see what makes us tick - and I'll give you a clue it isn't blatant plugging) and then drop it into the conversation and get them to pass the word on. Word of mouth is especially on a medium such as a forum is a powerful weapon.

I feel that you may have missed a golden opportunity if your intentions were honourable as the forum has had a spate of spammers and doesn't take kindly to them. Had you been good at what you do and found out about the prospective market on here first you would have got a) a more favourable response, b) more constructive comments and c) the chance of some actual business.

I suggest you try a site for the more needy golfing public such as Todays Golfer where blatant advertising is the staple diet of their inferior publication and whose readership seem easily taken in by anything accomp[anied by the name Taylormade, Callaway or pIng.

Homer you maybe right but the cynical atitude to people trying to do something can be a tad tiring at times. The guy wants feedback & his site isn't yet at a state that would get many punters let alone the likes of ourselves on here who can see a promo post at 500 yards. he's asked for opinions some of us have given the lad helpful constructive opinion even though we don't want to even really look at another online shopping site right now, some have been humerous, but some nameless others have simply been downright dismisive verging on rude.

We can all be dismissive at times, but to be blinkered into this cynical attitude all the time I can't be doing with it any longer man.
