At the risk of hijacking this thread , have people who have upgraded to modern drivers noticed the difference in distance or just accuracy , I ak this cos I'm hitting my TM r9 about 225-250 if I upgraded am I gonna see a noticeable increase in distance ?

P.s

I have no issue hitting driver it's probably the most consistent club in the bag , but I do wish for a few extra yards

I'd guess if you spent £300 on a SLDR you'd notice very little if any improvement.

If your happy with the driver all bar a tad more distance maybe work on increasing your swing speed. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but that seems the best option if your already hitting the club well.

Bizarrely enough I've already done this , I actually think I'm losing a few yards due gripping down the shaft but I'm small and it just feels the only way to control it !

Hi all I was thinking about getting a new driver after christmas .whats everyone's thought on drivers these days ? I am thinking taylormade r11 or rbz or am I missing something else?

Some sound comments though.... R11S appears to be the 'proper' R11 which may have been rushed out as I'd heard there were 'quality' issues. Not sure what that meant, but there were many who couldn't get on with it - but many for whom it was fabulous!

Indeed, try as many as you can and pick the one that suits you!

And if you wait until Feb, the new models will be released, so erlier ones will drop in price. For that reason, it's not really worth getting a new Driver over Xmas imo.

mmm the biggest differenece if you change from R9 to R1, you will notice is colour of the head there are small gains distance wise but the biggest adavntage i found with the R11S is the misses go better and straighter so its probably more a forgiveness issue rather than distance. Plus shaft tech has moved on.
Best way to see would be get yourself to a demo day or somewhere that has a launch monitor and trial club to compare like for like?

There's not a lot wrong with the current 1 just rancher a change. It's a nike sq 460.
