Hi all I was thinking about getting a new driver after christmas .whats everyone's thought on drivers these days ? I am thinking taylormade r11 or rbz or am I missing something else?

Thanks in advance.

As Pin Seeker wrote, try as many different makes as you can, don't think I want a xxxxxxxxx manufacturers driver, try them all and he one you least expect to be good for you may be the best.

I don't even think it is necessary to try as many as possible, the key is making sure you cover all the shaft variables. You will probably get a better result at a single manufacturer fitting day than you would hitting a dozen different clubs in stock option. If you were wanting to do it really right, you would have to get a custom fit for every different driver you are considering and then compare the all the different fitted options against each other. Of course this is going to be a big undertaking and there is a fair chance that, even after you spent ages getting fitted with all the different manufacturers, you wouldn't find a retailer who stocked them all with the right shafts to do the comparison.

I suspect that if you get properly fit with manufacturer A, the results will be hard to distinguish from a proper fit with manufacturer B (of course ignoring that many people have mental issues which ruins that good science!).

Local pro should have some trial clubs or go to a Retailer such as American golf direct golf they will have at least a net and a launch monitor of sorts for you too have a try.

this is pretty much the right direction... If you want to help yourself look at what you like and take it with you. The guy helping you will pick a few that are similar and you can see how you get on. I took my cleveland 5 wood along, handed it over to the guy in the shop. He picked a few drivers, and I got the yonex, which I am very happy with.

I don't know really . I have got a nike driver just now and want a change what would you suggest?

Nothing wrong with TM, they make a good driver. I was just interest why you'd narrowed it down. To be honest, as long as you get fitted properly and get the right shaft I doubt there is much between any of the heads. I only tried Titleist but tried so many different shaft\head combinations I doubt I will find one that performs better from any manufacturer.

I've had Ping and TM in the past, you might find Ping are a bit cheaper than TM (although the rate TM bring out drivers there are always deals to be had)

I like the Callaway Xtreme more than the Xhot. I looked at the latest Optiforce last night, but didn't hit it. The shaft is insanely long as standard, so I guess any increased distance will come from this, rather than any technology, and i spray it around a bit with a shorter shaft so longer is a no. Callaway have a new one coming out in Jan anyway, similar to the Slider.

If you're thinking TM, why not the SLDR? Ok, it's expensive, but give it a couple of weeks, and who knows?
