Planning the next couple of weekends to try some drivers. I've already ruled out a few but am now looking at the new R11 or the RazrFit however talking to my Pro yesterday he advised I try the Nike VrS. I know there's about a £100 price difference so am intrigued and was wondering what other peoples experiences of possibly testing these 3 clubs together are and their views.
 
Tried a load of drivers a couple of weeks back waiting on my mate getting fitted.
R11 was good, very good. RAZR-Fit I did not like one bit, sounded clunky and cheap to me (and we know it's not). Never been a fan of Nike clubs of any kind.
Best drivers I hit all day were the Mizuno MP-650 just felt amazing and the Cleveland Classic 270 was a dream and looked the business.
 
With your list, I so so recommend the cally razr x black, 100 cheaper than the razr fit, but better for me personally. That would be the driver I would buy if I were shopping.

Agreed, when he said Nike I twisted my face but he reckons they've produced a decent bat this time round... forgot about Mizzy but didn't see it in AGD who are my preferred choice for testing clubs as located at a range.
 
I don't know about the new ones but haven't hit what I consider a good Nike driver (or anything else*).
If they can source the MP-650 then it's well worth a test, the Cleveland shaded it for me but that was based purely on style over substance.

* This is personal opinion, it is not fact nor should be construed as such by the site's resident Nike lovers :D
 
isnt that the same with all golf clubs, one mans meat is anothers poison etc

I do fear that we have too much information these days and too much choice.

Hit a few then go with what you really want not neccessarily what others advise :thup:
 
Nike really do make very good clubs these days. To write them off as a company that makes sneakers is to ignore a serious golf manufacturer.

What is the r11, if not Adidas, another sneaker manufacturer.

Weren't Taylormade a well established and respected Golf OEM before the Adidas buy-out? Don't really think the two can be compared for heritage in the game TBH.
But who said anything about Nike being dismissed as a sneaker company?
My own opinion is based on my experiences of trying their equipment and not liking it one bit. Same as you may not like Mizuno equipment.

Mark ended up kicking his beloved Titleist 910 D3 out of the bad for the spcial additons VR Pro and has resently backed that up with a back to back against the Mizuno MP 650 below.

It is clear from his comments that he thinks the copression channel in the bottom of Nikes drivers is the latest and greatest bit of tech that actually works.

I am not a Nike guy but this is clearly one to try.
 
not a lot to choose performance wise between the clubheads, find one you like and suits your eye, more important factor is the shaft imo, get the right shaft (and clubhead combination) for your game and you will benefit greatly
 
You could do a lot worse than trying the Mizuno MP-650

Chap in our scratch cup recently purchased one and loves it. Says the shaft is excellent!
 
Being a Mizuno whore myself I would go with the 650. I (like you) own the MP630 and absolutely love it, it goes soooooo much further than the MP600 and if that step up is anything to go by then its 650 all the way.

ditto, if am moving over to Nike after being custom fit for my irons then finding a bargain set of vr split cavities to my exact spec.

I recently bought the sq dymo 2 str8 fit (set to neutral) and its already working better for than my Yonex ever did, although with less distance.
 
Just bought an R11S today. The great thing about clubs these days is there are so many you are bound to find one to suit your game. My suggestion is try as many as possible. Looks are a big factor too. I can't get my head around by mates square driver and therefore can't hit it no matter how many times I've tried.
 
I demo'd all of the latest drivers and bought the Razr Fit following a fitting.

To be honest although the Razr Fit gave the best figures, the Titleist D910, TM RBZ and Ping G20 were also very good however the Callaway edged it due to the shaft and the feel of the club through the swing.

I rate the Nike VR Pro STR8 Fit Driver very highly and now at £129 on special in some shops, if I had to buy another driver this would be it.

The two drivers I was most dissapointed with were the Nike VRS and the TM R11S. The Nike had a heavy head and IMO was let down by the shaft which seemed to be like a piece of licorice. The R11S just didn't feel right throughout the swing possibly due to all of the metal work on the head or a combination of the shaft and head. Either way I just could not get on with it.

I've heard nothing but praise on the Razr Black so that would also be on my list of clubs to try. Best of luck

Interesting post, thanks!

Looking the demo a few tomorrow so hopefully can narrow it down but do like the feel of the Callaway when I waggle it in the shop :)
