as you can see I don't yet have a driver but will soon be in the market for one. My two week old son has chopped the budget down a bit but still got about £130 to play with. I've found a load on the online-golf site and the nike sq sumo looks interesting as does a callaway hyper-x. any clues as to whether their any good or not?

HyperX Is an excellent club but depends on what shaft is in it.

Ben Sayers Benny is a name that no doubt will be mentioned in the next few responses.

I suggest a trip to a big store like an AG and seeing what they have. There may be some bargains to be had as a lot of the 2008 stock is in the process of being superceded by the new ranges. You should try before you buy but if you go to a big store they might also have some 2nd hand gear as well and you may find a bargain

I got a TaylorMade Burner this year, it was £150 then may have come down.

As said above, get to American or Direct golf and hit some balls.

Just don't let American Golf tell you haw great John Letters drivers are!!!

don't discount older models, like Ping G5 which is now being sold off. imo it's better than the G10 that's replaced it - others will disagree.

just think of all the fun you can have trying them out.

my local AG has been selling off old stock 'brand new' G5's, limited options obviously (DG also do this). it's also possible (haven't checked) that they may still be available on their online shop.

Just had an email from Snainton Golf, they are doing the Mizuno Mp 600 for £149 with Proforce V2 shaft or Fujikuri e360 in 9.5 and 10.5 stiff only. Super bargain for a quality club.
