18 holes in and things seem promising.
Starting at the scoring end of the bag, the wedges were great. Same loft and bounce as the previous T10's so I wasn't expecting any more distance and the point of having the same lofts was to keep my distance gapping the same.
The ball seemed t check up an awful lot quicker than the previous set with caught me out a few times leaving me short.
With having them fitted to me, a little more upright, my divot seems a lot shallower and not as long. No idea if this is just down to how I was swinging the clubs but over all very impressed.
The only negative I found was with the Nickel finish. It don't half mark easily
A few marks either side from bunker play but over all very impressed.
The irons had a good outing too. The one thing that I did notice compared to the 32's is that they are not quite as soft out the middle. Don't get me wrong they are still buttery soft, just not as soft as the 32's.
Overall very impressed. My strike seems to be a lot crisper with the 63's and I'm getting a little higher flight as compared to the 32's. Bearing in mind from the 6 iron down to the PW the lofts are 1* stronger than the 32's, over all distance was the same. If I had to make a broard guess I would say the 63's are about 3 yards longer. So, overall my distances are the same.
Now this may be a load of guff, it may be me, or it may be down to the clubs. I have generally play with a fade and I'm more than happy with that shape. The problem I had with the 32's was the ball started fractionally right of my intended line then faded.
The fitter noticed during my fitting that the 32's are flat compared to Mizuno standard by a couple of degrees. Bearing I have been fitted for 1* upright, this is a difference of around 3*.
The 63's now start where I aim an then, at the apex of their flight start to drop to the right. Our 14th usually plays 108 yards. We were on a temp green here yesterday, playing around 140 (uphill) to the pin. Played my usual shot. 7 iron started just left o the pin faded in on a cracking line, flew the pin by about 2 or 3 yards and checked up. left me about 10ft back up the hill.
All in all I'm very impressed with the 63's. It took me a little while to used to view at address and how the play, to be honest, I'm still adapting to them, but the early signs are good.
Now, the driver, completely different beast to my previous Mizuno 630.
I thought the Mizuno was an excellent driver. My problem with the driver has always been I could not get the thing to give me any other flight than low, mid at best. In turn, I suffered from loss of carry distance and in turn over all distance.
When we did my irons at my fitting the fitter suggested a mid launch, mid to high spin shaft. So when I spec'd up my 910D2 I decided to give the Kai'li shaft a bash.
Turns out to be a good choice
The ball has a much better initial launch angle and has a mid-high flight that is forward and powerful. It has added quite a bit of distance to my drives and at my swing speed I need all the help I can get.
As an example our 1st and 10th fairways have a fairway bunker right on the driving distance for the 630. I would either carry the ball into the trap or it would roll in. Yesterday, on both fairways, I carried the trap on both occasions. With the ground being soft seeing carry distance was easier and I was a good 15-18 yards past the trap to where the ball pitch "crater" was. Loft is the same on the driver. The shaft is the same weight and they are both 45" in length......
Over all, really, really impressed with all the new equipment
I was really worried about making wholesale changes but, after listening to people who know much more about clubs than me, I really think, on first impressions, I've made the right choices getting fitted for my clubs and listening to the fitter and his recommendations
