I'm off to play in a comp at my new club this afternoon. That's a first for me. No one knows me there. 😁 My question is, would you be yourself from day one and to hell with it, or would be a little reserved at first and see how the land lies before being your normal self?

Just be yourself, have fun and enjoy it.
Obviously try not to upset anyone but that should be a basic life requirement anyway.
I look forward to the post later telling us they have refunded your subs and informed you that you are no longer welcome 🤣

I think what your trying to say is “
Don’t wear white ankle socks on my first day”.
Nope 👍

That’s a loaded question as your normal is to consistently criticise the club and committees 😉

Always be aware that when meeting new people be yourself but avoid sensitive subjects like politics etc

Be your normal self, but do your best to internalize any radical thoughts or suggestions for improvements. Especially if you do not know the "status" of the people you are playing with.

Stick to playing golf and exchanging small talk rather than sharing the full workings of your mind.

This, with bells on.

If you try to be something you’re not, you’ll be found out. If you share your innermost thoughts on life, the universe and everything, you may alienate yourself.

Just go and enjoy your game and the company of others, and suss out how the land lies before truly opening up.

Are you worried about being yourself? Maybe you should never be yourself. 😉

I've played the odd round with CF over the years. He's a good guy and I really hope he'd take these remarks in the spirit in which (I hope) they were meant.

Certainly I was pulling his leg at his enthusiasm about the new course, in stark contrast to the commentary about the previous. 😉

If not, hope he messages me and lets me have it!
I'm pretty sure I played with him a long long time ago on a Golf Magic forum organised meet up at Worksop. I would echo your sentiments.
