New Adidas Golf shoes (street version) are here

I dont see how anyone can say they are not allowed. Yes they look like trainers but flick the sole up and you can see the spikes and are golf shoes, no matter what. You couldnt go walking round town in them with them spikes in could you. If you are worried about negative looks from other people then I fail to understand that thinking when you are there to play the course not worry about what people think about your clothing.

I'm not worried in the slightest about what I look like, its the issue with them looking like trainers. I think they look great but I know that I would be the only one wearing them at my gaff. As such I can imagine plenty of people making the effort to tell me trainers arent allowed and I would have to explain that they aren't and show the sole etc. etc.

I would rather stick to a set of adipures and avoid the explanations as like I said, i'm there for the demolition of the course not a discussion about footwear.

Ash!!

Rights and wrongs of club dress codes aside, the new shoe ranges pretty much all have some street shoe or trainer style models in this year.

I see a few rows brewing at clubs this year.

I love the style, but if I rocked up in them, I'd think I'd be prepared to have few debates with the stuffed shirt brigade.

Some of them do not have spikes, and these are the ones i can see causing issues. Even if DGs page is shown, showing them to be golf shoes, the powers that be will come out with the old'just because addidas call them golf shoes does not make them so' excuse.

Footjoy green joys never used to have spikes, but these somehow were ok. There is a precedent, but I bet if you wear a pair of non spiked, trainers like shoes you will get grief.

In this day and age it should not matter what they look like. If they do the job then they are good enough, trainers are usually very comfortable and are mostly designed to support you in some way. I done my ankle ligaments in 3 months ago and when I get back into weekly golf again if it hurts then I will be looking at a shoe that will provide me with the most stability and pain free/comfortable round. If they look like trainers I wouldnt give 2 hoots. If someone said to me there trainers I would flash the sole at them and tell them to concentrate on there own game and they may get a bit better rather than trying to patrol what people wear.

I can tell you now if the club had any issue with the footwear then I could easily just go get a doctors note to explain the choice of footwear and they wouldnt have a leg to stand on to tell me I couldnt wear what I needed.

I totally understand and agree with what your saying.

I was only pointing out that I would much prefer to avoid the inevitable conversation that would arise from wearing them.
