Played the first club comp of the year, the 7 club challenge (or in my case 8 club challenge). Played to the fifth hole +1 and then one of my playing partners noticed I was carrying 8 clubs.:p 4 penalty strokes later and my comp was over. Thank goodness there was no handicap adjustment or I would have been mighty miffed, as I played to my handicap without the penalty strokes. What made it worse was the only club I hadn't used was my 6 iron, so no 6 for the rest of the round 4 or 8 only and all I seemed to need from there on in was a 6 or 7 iron.

Anyone else did anything as stupid while playing a competition?

in my first society type comp I walked over peoples putting lines, didn't quite get flag etiquette, and the card I was marking blew away on the 9th, asked loads of how to questions and was fortunate not to be clubbed to death. They were very understanding as I didn't have much of a clue.

I always forget to count the other guys score for a few holes a round...

And for someone who spends their day doing statistics and maths I struggle to add up a scorecard correctly sometimes!

Thats what I get for doing all my maths in Excel now :D :D :D

(BTW for all those in the know I do my stats using R, I would never do them in Excel!!)
