They have a free months trial advertised which I'll probably erm .... trial

then for £6pm is it worth it?

It doesn't have the latest movies, but if you want to catch up on TV box sets for stuff like Breaking Bad and Dexter, or for older movies or kids stuff, it is good. You can access it on 2 devices with the 6 quid plan. There is also an app for it on Apple TV (and probably other devices too) which makes it very convenient. The streaming can hang up sometimes if you don't have a fast broadband line, but if you have fibre, should be great.

I haven't used it personally but a few mates have it & rate it. You can watch box sets aswell as movies. Think I might give the free trial a go

This is the only source of TV related entertainment we have in the bedroom as I can not be bothered to run an aerial to the TV which is mounted on a bracket on the wall.

Its great, its not got all the latest and greatest movies but there are plenty on there and loads of box sets to keep you entertained.

Cheers fellas, apart from some movies I havent seen, I've heard its decent for boxsets, I absolutely love Modern Family but missed the first series, that and a few boxsets I didnt even consider until recommended might be good.

It will be via an app on virgin but not BB dependent so it should 'stream' seamlessly

You can use unblock-us to get access to US and Canadian content. Better box sets on the US and better movies on the Canadian.
I have it set to UK on my Xbox and to Canada on my Apple TV. It's a neat solution.
If you have only one device it's still pretty easy to switch region.

that sounds better still, how do I do that as its an APP on the virgin TV apps?

You have to change your DNS settings. You can do it on you router or on the device itself.

The downside of doing it on the router is it will appear as if you are in the US for all your devices, so things like BBC iplayer wouldn't be available, you'd default to google.com instead of .co.uk etc, until you switch region back to UK. It is neater to change the DNS on one device only, Apple TV is good for this as tbh I don't use it for much else so impact is minimal.

Edit: I have no experience of doing this to a virgin box. The unblock us site has good easy to follow instructions, they may have a how to for virgin.

Edit2: there is a subscription charge for unblock-us. It's about a fiver a month

I have my Xbox set for US; as has been said, the content on the US/Canada Netfilx is far superior and much more extensive.

I use Netflix more than I use my VM TiVo, so I might have question that expense in the future.

this all sounds great for £3.11 PM ($4.99) what do you both mean by far superior? examples? the content here is not bad from what I can see

They have different licenses for content here than there. Typically it means more and newer content. But it depends.

Example, you couldn't get Grey's Anatomy (my wife's favourite TV show) over here, but in Canada all 9 seasons are available.

Canada has newer movies typically.

There is stuff we have that they don't, I think it was Justified(great show) that I could get through the Xbox set to UK but not the Apple TV set to Canada.

Breaking Bad is worth the subscription on its own, for a couple of months. That's available on the UK one.

I wouldn't bother paying for something like Unblock US if all you need is a DNS change. There are plemty of free US based DNS servers out there you can use. google it.
