Nerves are a jangling...

Go on my son! Im sure u will break 100 if u remember to relax and enjoy yourself. In fact you might consider getting a long club after this! Have a good one mate!

Hey fellas. Thanks for the support enjoyed it and hit some corking shots today. Little frustrated by the inconsistency of ball striking but because of the work I've put in on the short game something had to give. The positives were that I can really nail my 6 iron some distance when I catch hold of it just need to do it more consistently. Good thong was I got my mate to take a few videos of my swing on the course but didn't look at them till I got home. Know exactly what the problem is and should be a relatively simple fix with the pro.

Going to be a bit cheeky and ask you to visit the blog to see what I actually scored today at www.projectscratch.co.uk.

Good news is the guy I played with though my chipping and putting were significantly better than our last time out on the nine hole and I took 37 putts today one off my pre round target. With more chipping and pitching practice I should give myself more makeable one putt opportunities just five chances within ten feet today and I made three.

Funniest moment today came when I hit my only sliced tee shot. In the rough, trees everywhere. Rather than play the heroic hit over the trees I went for the sensible low hit through the largest available gap. Used a half swing with the six iron and ball back in my stance. Had arguable my best connection of the day ball travelling like a rocket nice and low. The only obstacle a young tree with a trunk about 2 inches wide. Sods law the shot smacks straight into it and flies off onto the opposite fairway. I just had to laugh. Without that tree it would have been a great recovery shot onto the fairway about 120 yards further on. Love this game!

Well done Tiger, looks like you had a resonable game.

I must say though, if your hitting your 6 iron 175 - 180 yards in mid winter, you'll be knocking it over 200 in summer.....I reckon you'll be scratch by the end of the year. ;) :p

LMAO!!!! :D Even if that was the case the greens would be like concrete so what I'll make up in yards I'll lose in control. Love the vote of confidence.

In response to your comment imurg I am definitely trying to take that approach. It's easy at this stage because I'm starting out but I imagine it will get trickier as my handicap goes down and a bad hole can become a card wrecker. Will try and retain that positive thinking though. T

Why? I thought you were supposed to be a member here?
In my opinion that is bad form.

Hi JustOne

That's a fair comment, just trying to get more people visiting the blog to provide opinions etc. Whenever I've linked a forum post to the blog hits and comments have spiked. It saves me duplicating posts on both forum and blog and helps me keep a record of your views.

However, I did reflect and think that I should have just signposted for more detail but given you my score but by then it was too late to edit my original post.

I scored an unspectacular 114 but there were a number of positives that I took from the day, mainly my improved short game.

Apologies one and all

T
