"Natural" putter stroke - myth?

I have also been listening to Bob Rotella's audio book 'Putting out of your mind', which isn't ground breaking analysis but he explains exactly what I do when I am putting, thinking about xyz when I really should be focusing on my target....
Just get into a routine, pick your target and make your stroke

Totes agree!! One of the best books for putting!
If you struggling and want to improve you cannot overlook being taught good mechanics... recommend you do consider going to the best putting coach you can ASAP! I went to and recommend Harold Swash in Formby, simply brilliant (but there are other putting specialists), and now I know my mechanics and setup are sorted "putting our of your mind" is a lot easier to follow.

Funny how people will pay lots of money for lessons on the full swing but are happy to buy a putter which allegedly works for their shonky natural stroke.

I tried a mini version of the Peter Finch "Jordan Spieth putting drill" and only did twenty putts per distance. I managed 17/20 from the first distance (3 feet) but that went down to 7/20 (5 feet) and 8/20 (seven feet). As I came back in after going out to 30 feet (2/10) I then went up to 17/20 from 4 feet and 10/20 from 8 feet. It was long and boring (as Peter Finch found) but there was definite improvement.

I didn't have any stroke thoughts and it was all about making the putts.

I've had putting lessons and been on a SAM monitor but I still find there is no substitute to getting onto the practice green, use a mirror to check the fundamentals and then simply find a way to get the ball in the hole

Talented golfer, currently putt well with the 2 ball, know it works for you, the alignment aids suit your eye, I assume it has stood up well for you under pressure or you wouldn't be so low. I'm failing to see why you need to change???

Good luck anyway but change is not always for the better.

Just trying it. Currently I don't three putt often, don't miss many inside 5 feet but don't hole enough in the 6-12 feet range. Less obviously, I just think a blade style is subconsciously closer to the rest of the game and will allow me to build some synchronicity between that and the long game which might (might!) give some benefits to both. That may well be complete snake oil but I'm now looking at marginal gains where I can find them.

Plus I can pick balls up with the back of the putter! ;)

If it doesn't work, I'll be back to the 2 ball when the serious stuff starts - don't worry!
