My swing

I assume you must have a fantastic short game if you want to get to single figures ? ;) ;) ;)

As Bob says it's the loop that is the main problem. How you miss the outside stick i don't know. Oh that's right you didn't.

:D

Which swing did I hit the stick on? The only time I see it move is on one of the 3 wood shots, but it jumps up because I hit the mat.

Referring to how you broke your V-Easy, not these shots. :D :D :D

At least you know that if you can cure the loop, you should be able to get your handicap down fairly quickly. Rest of the swing looks pretty good to me, with good tempo.

I think you've heard enough about the loopety loop but to answer the other question I normally do my drills with a mid iron (6 or 7) and just keep working it until I think I have it. I usually go down first to see if I really have and then move back to the longer clubs if its going ok. If not I go back and work with the mid irons again

I’ll have a shot at this. Firstly, like many players, you seem to be trying to pull the club away straight in line. If you stop the film about a foot after your takeaway you’ll notice the swing path is still in line with your alignment rods. Something has got to give to get up to the top from that. Secondly, you come over the top on your downswing and I’ll bet you pull a few straight left.

What I think you need to do is takeaway on an natural arc when you pull away from the ball. I played with a guy last Sunday and he was having a terrible time and he was trying to pull back straight. I put a couple of pegs down, one a foot or so behind the ball the other the same in front. The one behind the ball was inside the line of the target and ball, as was the one in front. The simple idea is you are swinging the club behind you not on top, so there has to be an arc and that arc starts as soon as you take the club away.

You all know I’m a Hogan fan, but it really is simple when you think of it. Just look at this and you’ll see what I mean. About 1.16 in you get an idea of what I’m saying 1.19 is the same. The best one is at 1.29, 2.18 and 2.21 where you clearly see Hogan’s arc from the takeaway. I’ll bet if you try this you will hit the ball better.

I think your swing is similar to mine ,i'm currently a 15.5 . . . . you have to decide what your goals are in golf . . . . a pro who i took a lesson from just before christmas said that i could get to a 10 if I carried on aiming left and fading my shots , However, if I was prepared to practise and change my swing to eradicate the over top move, then i could get down lower than that . . . .

I honestly think that your pro has given you rotten advice there. Being able to eliminate one side of the golf course with a repeatable fade is ideal.

The world number 2 does pretty well by aiming at the left semi and cutting everything. A chubby guy with great chap baps managed to win 8 order of merits by fading everything off the left rough too.

From my very expert view and extensive knowledge of the golf swing...
..Your shoulders are aiming way left of the target at set up. Just make sure that feet hips and shoulders are all in line.
Good positions though.

Easier said than done, would you believe.

Most things look pretty good until the downswing begins. I would focus on finding drills to promote a better position for the downswing.

I would also say be more "athletic" at address. I see the down swing as an over rotate and your right knee only helping this by bending. You then over compensate on the way back down with your arms (your left arm is bent at the top, should be straight which needs even more compensation.)

Try some drills with a 5 iron doing 9 o'clock to 3, don't let the swing go above hit height and focus on swinging around the body with very little hands, don't move any weight or bend your right knee, keep it where it starts. I think this will help stop you over rotating your hips and then compensating. With this drill you cannot make the mistake or over compensate.

It might not work for you, but gripping softer with my right hand helped me. I was told I had too much 'right side' in my swing.

your swing is pretty good as far as I can see.

I am no pro and had alot of problems with my swing - alot of it seemd to come down to my grip.

sometime ago i found an ebook that really helped me - I do not think that i can post the link on here as the moderater might think that it was advertising if you want the link then please pm me..

kind regards
