More than sufficient as you are to play plus level golf. What handicap are you aiming for ?Thanks, I’m hoping to squeeze a little extra out by summer, we’ll see!

I don't really have one to be honest, scratch or better in 2026? Depends on how my back holds upMore than sufficient as you are to play plus level golf. What handicap are you aiming for ?
6i Carry of 160 in this weather suggests you have a reasonable speed already.I don’t have great swing speed but my coach tells me I have more than enough to get down to 5 off back tees. He says this as I’m accurate off the tee and my short game is good. I just have to get a good bit better at the 150-175yd distance. So when today I hit a 6i sweet and true 160yds to 6ft I rejoiced. No additional swing speed there…just a better strike. For the 160-175yd it’s not going to be my 5i…I would need a bit more speed for that…instead I’ll add a 5h or 6h to my bag.

My carry was maybe 153yds.6i Carry of 160 in this weather suggests you have a reasonable speed already.
Sorry my mistake , thought you hit to 6 foot not 20My carry was maybe 153yds.
He hit it to 6 feet but it pitched at 153, therefore it must have rolled 15 feet. Just like if you chip it to an inch from the pin, it doesn’t have to fly all the way there.Sorry my mistake , thought you hit to 6 foot not 20

Exactly this, pitched maybe 15ft short of pin and stopped 6ft past. Greens were firm, and not much backspin out of first cut rough I played from. Plus I don’t hit ‘cloud-scraping’ irons. He hit it to 6 feet but it pitched at 153, therefore it must have rolled 15 feet. I've recently swapped out my 5 iron for a 5 hybrid (lofted it up to 26 from 24) and I'm much more comfortable in those 180-200 yard shots now. Hybrids are just so much easier to hit.Hybrids in that 165-190 window is a massive help.
At that distance hitting the green is a great shot. The hybrid helps massively with front to back dispersion.
From 185 I'll hit my 5 hybrid pin high 8 times out of 10 and I'll hit my 5 iron maybe 5 times pin high out of ten. That IS the difference.
Put me in a bad lie and the gap gets even bigger.
The reason they feel easier is that they offer a higher ball speed from the same club head speed, since they can easily give you 1.45x efficiency (and from a variety of strike location) compared to an iron which would max out at 1.4 (for most players) and will have a steep drop off on missed strikes.Hybrids are just so much easier to hit.
That's really good. Stil low 100s for me but took a break as I was aching for days after a 1 days ski course in MKJust did a session at lunchtime and was pretty happy with it. Green started at 122, blue 122 and red 120. Ended green at 129. All of those speeds are on my limit for the last couple of years, according to the Superspeed chart it should translate to between 105-110mph with the driver.
I've taken out a membership to our golf studio at the club, get 5 hours on the Trackman every week. I can keep track of it easily now.
I’m not sure what you are using to measure your speed, I’m using the old blue sports radar that Super Speed used to sell years ago (I’ve had the clubs since 2019).That's really good. Stil low 100s for me but took a break as I was aching for days after a 1 days ski course in MK
Out on the course at the weekend and was my best ball striking round in a long time. Really felt like I was getting through the ball better and hit a couple of really good drives distance wise. I'm not looking for huge gains , but if I can get my average up to high 90s then I think I'd be happy with that.
I have the prgr.I’m not sure what you are using to measure your speed, I’m using the old blue sports radar that Super Speed used to sell years ago (I’ve had the clubs since 2019).
If you are using the PRGR, my radar reads about 3 or 4mph higher than that, or so I’ve read.
My first year using them I jumped about 6 or 7mph in the first 8 weeks so stick at them, you will definitely gain speed. I also took about a month to learn how to control the face again as I would leave it wide open at the new speed.
I wildly thrash at them but whatever it’s doing it always increases my 3 drives at the end. When you guys are swinging these speed stick things, do you use something akin to your actual golf swing? Or do you just wildly thrash them about?
The reason I'm asking - just out of curiosity really, but I'm currently trying (unsuccessfully) to shorten my backswing a little, but if at the same time I was using speed sticks and swinging wildly, I feel like that would undermine my efforts to shorten my golf swing. And I feel like it would be wiser to try and use that shortened swing with the speed sticks as well.I wildly thrash at them but whatever it’s doing it always increases my 3 drives at the end.
