.....all ruined!

Came back from a few days away to find water leaking into my flat from the one above. Has been for a couple of days apparently. Redecorating and new carpet required and the big pile of golf mags all beyond salvation.

So that's 2013 off to a great start.

Can you not make a claim on her Insurance for the Deco and carpet ? Also the back issues of the mag ? Why should you be out of pocket for something that is not your fault.

You should be able to do as Sydney suggested , Mike or Jezz will be able to help with any queries regarding replacement copies ..

On a similar note I bought an extra copy last year of the one covering the centenary final , just to have as a souvineer, kept it in my bedside locker , my young lad didnt see the value in it & tore lumps out of it , only a book , memories are still there ha

I was being slightly facetious about the mags - only two years worth - but it is a shame to lose the one that I was in! Maybe the OH's dad still has his copy....

Have been onto the insurance already... whopping great excess for an incident like this apparently so looks like I'll be taking a hit.

Surely its a claim by you against the resident upstairs ?
Have they not got insurance or why are you claiming off your own ?

I just phoned my insurance and told them what had happened. It didn't occur to me to claim from upstairs and my insurance guy didn't suggest it. That's a few people have mentioned this now so I think I'll ask more explicitly next time I'm speaking to them.
