Yesterday I played my first competition after receiving my first official h/c, 26. The competition was a thing called BOGEY, which I must say was new to me. The best I can discribe it is, matchplay against the course.

Any way after a quick explanation of the rules and scoring off we went. I was 2 down after two, but managed to get it back to all square after 9. With some good chipping and putting (best this year) getting me out of trouble I managed to finish the round 1 up.
Having enjoyed myself so much I retired to club house to have a drink with my playing companions. Imagine my shock and embarrassment when, after countback, I was awarded 4th place (same score as second) only one hole behind the evential winner.

I think I can get to like this golf malarkey!!

It's an interesting format and one our club plays over the easter weekend. You can play any two days over the long weekend and it is the total score of your two cards. I always seemed to get turned over by the course big time in this (not sure why) but its fun to play.

Out of interest which part of Surrey are you in and where do you play.

I actually live in Purley but play at The Kent & Surrey Golf & Country Club. It used to be called Edenbridge G C.

Its a long old course 6345 yards of the yellows, which we used yesterday and 6601 yards of the whites. Par 72.
A long way for someone like me who only takes he driver out for a walk but never use it to actually hit the ball, more work down the driving range before i would even think about using it on the course. Hitting the ball straight with my 3 and 5 woods is my priority at the moment.
