This is a question really for those of you who have a Mizuno MP Fli-Hi club, or have used one.

I'm toying with the idea of trying one out because I don't really get on great with my hybrid.

I was just wondering what sort of distance they go compared to the same numbered iron that they replace?

I'd say mine goes maybe 10 yds further (4 iron). Probably due to me hitting it out of the sweet spot more often than the equivelant iron, and it's heavier. Also have more confidence standing over it which helps.

Definately a bit further for me

I struggled to hit anything longer than a 4 iron consistently, big difference between a good strike and a bad strike.
Now i use the 2 and the 4 Fli-Hi and now have so much more control over the golf ball. I also find it easier to change the shot trajectory and spin with these clubs compared to the hybrid equivalent. They fit in perfect with my MP68s.

I've had an assortment of 1 irons - Ping Eye 2, Mizuno Pro and Wilson FG-49.
2 irons - Mizuno Pro, TP-19.
3 irons - Mizuno Pro, MP-32, Srixon and Wilson FG-49.

None have been close to the forgiveness and workability of the MP Fli-Hi.

I have the 2 iron, Not used it much this year as its not been that windy. Use it off the tee on link s courses if they are running quick. Tain sometimes the driver is too much and you run out of fairway or 2nd shots into the wind shots over 200. Got nearest the pin in a comp with it this year on a 230 yard par 3, hit to 3 feet. Great clubs.

Ive got the 2 and 4 (18 deg and 24deg) orginal Fli-His - they are awesome golf clubs. At one point this summer i was using the 2 iron exlcusively as a driving iron and not using my driver .

Certainly 10 yards on equivalent iron

Beautifully balanced.

I bought a Mizuno FliHi 3 (21deg) hybrid this year thinking it woudl be even better - just could NOT get on with it - the only shot it ever hit wll and consistenly for me was very low 30yard punches under tree branches !

Would that be these ones http://www.118golf.co.uk/Golf-Clubs-Hybr...ELAID=468902826 ?

Got an offer for new ones of these for £29.99

I think the OP was asking about the MP Fli-Hi's. Which are essentially good old fashioned irons that are designed to be easier to hit than a 2, 3 or 4 iron from a bladed set like the MP68's.

Easily confused with the hybrid models that also bear the Fli-Hi name.

Or at least I think the OP was refering to the irons rather than the hybrids. :D

Did I sell it to you on ebay?? :D

I had the same issue with the same lofted club, was absolutely great as a "fairway finder" under the wind. Just got no flight on it whatsoever, prefer the versatility of a the hybrid.

No denying it was a really powerful club though, the 21* fli hi was about 12yds longer than my MP60 3iron. However 60yds of that was a scuttle on the deck. :p

Yeah, interested in the MP's... the ones that look more like irons.

For some reason I just can't hit my hybrid consistently well so was thinking of trying more conventional looking clubs because that's what I grew up with.

I'm happy hitting my 4 iron but not quite so confident with the 3. Even though I've got a quickish swing I always feel like I have to leather it to get it airborne and going the distance it should (probably all in my head!).

The advertising blurb that says they go high wasn't too accurate for you then?

Was trying to ascertain whether these were the ones being referred to as good, or hopeless to get airborne? The offer was not for me to sell, but a chance for me to buy. Wondering whether they are worth it....

that at the new direct golf (old nevada bobs)?, was intending to pop my head in there tomorrow to see if any improvement now its changed hands, any other deals you know about there?

I've got one of the Fli-Hi 21 deg 3 irons and find it goes best with a wide unhurried swing, like a fairway wood, and it gets airborne no problem.
It's a great club that I originally bought to use from the tee when I was having a confidence crisis with my driver and it certainly gave me the distance I wanted as well as being (mostly) straight.

Yep.

20% off all clothing. Got some birthday money, and with the extra 20% have gotten a great deal on a new Galvin Green waterproof jacket.

They've stocked it our pretty well, compared to the how it was. There's a few other deals in store already, £20 quid of items here and there, plus these opening offers

Mizuno TP10 wedges for £39 Nike Str8 fit driver for £99.

cheers Ill try and pop down later for a look

do you play locally? if so fancy a game some time (when the weather improves)

Play the odd round at Windmill Hill as I live about 1/2 mile from it, but I'm a member at Leighton Buzzard and mostly play there.

Happy to play when the weather sorts itself out.

Went into the Reading Nevada Bob's last week and there's a sign on eth door saying theu are no longer associated with Nevada Bobs - they too are turning into Direct Golf so will be interesting to see how that works out.

i bought my current putter from them , and also my Mizuno irons there a good few years back for a good deal, but other than that i've never really bought anything else there as prices always seem to be higher than elsewhere

sev

one of nevada bobs franchises has sold to Direct Golf, think its 4 or 5 stores going over.

need-my-wedge
