Most scenic golf courses in Great Britain

What are your suggestions if you could nominate one each for England, Wales and Scotland.

Here are mine.
England: Kington.
Wales: LLandrindod Wells.
Scotland: Strathpeffer.
Played Kington and Llandod regularly.

Hard to fault either

Welshpool, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, Charnwood Forest, Royal North Devon and Llandudno also worthy of honourable mentions

I haven’t played in Scotland or Ireland yet, and so from the courses I’ve played:

Wales - Aberystwyth. Being on top of the hill and next to the sea, you have lovely views up and down the cardigan bay coastline.

England - church stretton. Just stunning views across the Shropshire hills and down into the valleys. Really is a stunning location.

Ireland: Lahinch
England: Royal Cinque Ports
Wales: North Wales.

Not played in Scotland so can’t comment. But for sheer beauty of a course sat in woodlands and hole layout the best I’ve come across in a summers day is Queenwood it’s just so pretty as a course.

Though a good course I could never think of Deal being at all scenic.

Cleeve, Painswick or Stinchcombe in this neck of the woods would give a lot of the named courses a run for their money.

Even though I played it very well, castle Stewart had some gorgeous views. The unseasonal weather massively helped.

Scotland - Cruden Bay. But there's so much choice up there I could add a few more very easily.

England - Royal West Norfolk(Brancaster).

Wales - Royal St. David's at Harlech.

Ireland - Portmarnock GC, Dublin. Sadly, I didn't get across to the west of Ireland for Ballybunnion and Waterville, or down to Cork for Old Head of Kinsale but maybe one day.

Just realised, they're all links courses.

Saw this thread and was about to post. Thought it best to see if I’d already posted. And the 4 clubs I’d thought of before I’d found my previous post… as above…

Depends what you want from your scenery. Deal town is pretty average but I love the views on course across the holes.

Can’t say I’ve ever played anywhere in UK that’s wowed me with views over/around the course. But I’ve never played in Scotland so maybe one day I might!

For a fun course with beautiful views, youd have to go a long way to beat Dunaverty, on the Mull of Kintyre
Played there with the Forum in 2020, just after Covid was lifted

If you can stand on the 16th tee of the West Course at Saunton and not smile at the view in all directions, you are not a golfer.

Off the top of my head, just of the places I've been with wonderful views in 2025 alone...

Dunbar, Machrie, Macrihanish, Dunaverty, Kilspindie, Archerfield

Harlech, Aberdovey, Pennard,

Thurlestone, Isle of Purbeck, St Enodoc, Kington, Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh

I haven't been to Ireland this year!🤣🤣

Yeah, the UK is rubbish 😉
