Just completed probably the most pressurised round of golf I've ever played...a Texas Scramble!

I was the low handicapper (at 17) with two newbies off 28 and a newbie girl off 36. I'm not exactly Mr. Consistency and have never been the low handicapper in any kind of team event. So to have to make the majority of the shots and the score was extremely challenging.

It was extremely good experience as the pressure was more keenly felt on every shot as it wasn't just your card that you could mess up but the whole team's.

I now feel for all those low handicappers who have had to carry me in team events in the past!

Great fun though.

So what's your most pressurised round? :)

Played in a few opens over the years and managed to have the odd good day so felt the pressure over the last few holes. It's a different kind of pressure in a match and I've had a few good wins in those. It was nice to feel some kind of adrenalin rush over the last few holes in my recent pairs win with HTL as he had a dodgy last few holes (well he was knackered carrying me for the first 15) and I knew we had to keep scoring to stand a chance. Most of my medal and stableford wins have been relatively pressure free in that I knew I was scoring well but didn't have a target to aim at so it was a case of just finishing my own round off and seeing what happened

NAPGC regional. 3rd to last member of the team at Pype Hayes.
Mostly the pressure was self-created, as I'd gone round in 75 there before and wanted to do it again.

Mine is coming, got my first pro-am ever on june 11th,not looking forward to first tee but really looking forward to the day, could be 2 wins in the week after my win at Ascot.

Second round of my club championship a few years back - lead the field by 2 shots and started with 5 straight bogeys!! Managed to pull myself together and win by a shot though :D

Not a round as such but the 5 hole Scramble at Bearwood with David Howell and Mike Harris was a real buttock-cleancher!!

Me.
Nervous?

I would say my most pressurised round will be this sunday. Playing 2nd leg of the ulster cup for the gc. Lost my first match, so i really would like to play well in this one. I am actually very nervous!!

Mine was the Playing Ability Test for the PGA years ago. Scoring better than 15 over for 2 rounds shouldn't be a test for most players but the majority do fail on their first attempt, for some reason the target score gets to them. Mine was at York Golf Club and i'd chopped it round in 3 over in the morning and then gone out in the afternoon and 3 putted the first 3 greens and hooked my tee shot on the 4th under a bush...............I was really struggling and after yet another 3 putt on 15 for a double, i parred in to finish with the grand score of +12. I have never felt that much pressure before or since while on the golf course, pleased that i don't need to rely on my golfing ability to make money, would have starved years ago......
Really liked the golf course though

Who (club) are you up against James?

Thanks Charlie.

Hi Brendy, I am playing against Mahee Island, we lost first leg 4-3, so we are in a good position for the return leg this Sunday at Galgorm.

Galgorm will be in good nick with the decent weather recently, good luck matey.
Played Mahee a couple of times a few years ago, its very short and scenic, wasnt in great overall condition though so could be better now.

You've just reminded me of my playing test.
5 shots in hand with 5 to play, 4 in hand with 4 to play, 3 in hand with 3 to play, 2 in hand with 2 to play, 2 in hand on the last........bushes right and water left......birdie :D
One of our group failed at his 7th attempt and he was off 3.
