So quick question - what's the most number of shots you have taken or seen been taken in the one bunker and conversely what's the most you have taken on one hole or seen

Derby course at the Belfry....the guy in my group took 11 shots to get out of a greenside bunker. Through tears of laughter and whilst hyperventilating I asked him what he scored. "8" was his reply. I will never forget that day.

Most I've taken - I cant remember more than 2.
Most on a hole - I think I got a 11 on a par 5 once and the same guy as the bunker incident actually shot 16 on that infamous day.

Took me 6 shots to get out of one of our bunkers the other week! Right up against the high face of a bunker and on the curve of the bunker too. Was quite amusing....shame it was in a medal comp!

12 on a Par 5 a few years back and picked up out of Hells Bunker at The Old Course after 4 attempts😃

When I got my HIO I NR'd in the next hole after taking 6 attempts at getting it out and then picking up- think that's my most.

I think other than NR'ing 4 attempts before continuing. Done it more than once

took me 8 shots to get out of a bunker at Dundonald links. Managed to get out by going backwards only to duff my chip straight back in. Ended up with an 18 on that hole.

I've given up and picked my ball up from a bunker twice that I remember.

Once in the fairway bunker on the left of the 2nd on the Hotchkin, and once from the bunker right of the green on the 5th.

14 shots I witnessed in an open stroke at Shandon Parks 10th hole, 120 yard par 3. Guy had a good card going and just couldnt get out, walked off with a 17 cursing his luck, even when trying to get out sideways it just didnt work hahaha.

Remember playing Wilmslow many moons ago in a Junior Match, was in a greenside bunker for 2 and my playing partner went OOB twice.

The sand at my home course was clumpy and thick normally then Wilmslow's was like hitting through grains of sugar.

I'm not entirely sure how many times I went straight under the ball and left it in. I do know I lost the hole though

Played the other week and was smashing it for 14 holes, had 36 points, went 1 point, 1 point, blob on the 17th with six in a par three bunker. Could of cried.

Bunkers are my Achilles heel, was watching phil mickleson on YouTube the other day. If my hcap is gonna drop a great deal more I need to sort my bunker play out.

When Mr Mimms and I played Lytham St Annes years ago, we had to introduce a "3 strikes and you're out" rule for bunkers, otherwise I might still be there...

Well today me and my illustrious playing partners witnessed I believe our highest totals from one of the fourball

Here he is getting ready for his first bunker shot

And then his second shot

Here he is getting help finding the result of his second shot

And here he is hitting a cracking 12th shot out of the bunker

The great news is he then went and put his 15th shot into another bunker and ended up with a 19 - the good news is he had a shot on the hole :D

Karma was great today

Don't think I've taken more than 3 to get out - I may have taken 3 and picked up though...

Top number on 1 hole was a 14 on a par 5 with no penalties - and only 1 putt!

I am not playing the most complicated course in the world so I think 4 is my worst. The 5th stroke was then from the bunker of the other side on the green. Sometimes it i just more ground work than golf.

When we play our Friday competition we pick up after 5, so I sometimes I get saved from a massive score there.

My worst hole ever was an 11 (paar 3 course) outside the competition when I needed a 6 for my record score and hit the water twice, and then rounded it up with a bunker session near the hole.
