More categories

2 folk? Hardly a resounding majority, it's not upto me though but if you want to have a poll go on ahead it is your choice.

Why does an equipment section make total sense along with one for the rules? Does the ask the experts section not cover asking questions about rules? Does the lounge not cover any questions regarding equipment?

Equipment section for reshafting, grips, club advice, the kind of thing you might ask your pro.Rules is pretty obvious as queries pop up in both main forum sections. The lounge for general banter and sharing experiences and ask the forum for any questions not covered by other sections like course advice or swing tips for example. This will help people get appropriate answers or responses sooner no?

With the current set up I find it takes longer to get specific answers to certain questions or comments. It would be easier if you knew exactly where to post and it would avoid complaints for posting in the wrong forum.

People are very good at posting in the wrong place - by accident I'm sure.
If we had more categories then the number of incorrect postings would go up too..

I'm fine with the current set although I would change the Ask the Experts name - after all, very few of us are actually qualified "experts" in golf.....

Why would more categories lead to more posting in the wrong place? Surely the opposite Imurg? I agree about the experts comment however,it might put some folk off posting solutions!

Really? I can honestly say I have never noticed any huge delays in folks getting answers to the questions that people know.........also, from memory, I am the only one to have complained about things being posted in the wrong section ;) Seriously it isn't a huge problem to shift things to the correct section.

Too much choice...

We have 8 sections and people get it wrong
If we have 12 then more people will get it wrong.

Humans don't do "choice" very well.......

Point is Deke though, some folks just post wherever their mouse happens to be pointing rather than using common sense so if there are more options, more mistakes will surely be made. If you start diluting down the sections, each will seem quieter too even if they all get an equal amount of trade.

You still never answered my question though, does the current set up not allow for that already?

Actually no it doesn't Chris.

I still don't like this "new" forum, there was nowt wrong with the old one but it was still changed anyway. Why are you being so stuck in your ways about increasing the amount of categories?

I'm sick fed up with lazy people just posting things for the sake of posting it in the lounge.

ASK THE EXPERTS is misleading, its wrong and should be ASK THE FORUM.

Rules section for rules and decisions is a superb addition, there are some very knowledgeable people on here when it comes to decisions and these could easily be referenced in a separate category instead of lost in a multitude of categories.

I would also split the post a review to keep courses away from equipment and gadgets. Maybe that's just me but I feel it would be easier to search and read. I'm sick fed up opening the lounge section to see some lazy numpty asking about X,Y or Z course. Although to be fair does it warrant being in the "ASK THE EXPERTS" it should be in the "ASK THE FORUM" section.

The forum should always be looking to evolve and get better not sit and stagnate.

In fact where is the dude in charge of the forum, get him on to explain the limited crap categories!

Rules lost in a multitude of categories? As far as I can see almost every rules question is in the ask the experts section which to me is the appropriate section.

You have contradicted yourself by saying

How patronising and condescending does it sound when you say you are

You de realise you have the option of not reading that post?

What I'm getting at is your dead against change but the forum was changed anyway. There are rule questions in every bloody section just like asking about courses etc. Instead of being pedantic and taking the huff when the forum is criticised move them into the correct sections you have the ability to do it as do the rest of the mods.

Now I don't want to turn it into a mod bashing as I have no axe to grind with anyone (for a change) but a bit of housekeeping would assist. Also ASK THE EXPERTS is so so so so so so wrong.

Every section is bursting and threads get lost easily because there are not enough catagories to keep things separate. How difficult is it for sor some sub sections within these categories???

Craw has a decent point here Chris, often threads do get lost in the great pile up! This would not happen with more categories.Again just my 2 cents...

Taking the huff? I haven't taken the huff merely pointed out your contradictions, with one breath you are sayingthe old forum was fine no need to change from it but with the next change is good . What housekeeping are you going on about? Anything that needs moving tends to get moved, you may not agree, as is your right, so say something.

Honestly, I fail to see how having another 4,5 or whatever sections is going to make any real difference, the post count remains the same and from what I can gather most people use the " new posts" button so it makes zero difference as to which section a thread is actually in.

On the Ask the experts - ask the forum ? i see where you are coming from but what difference does a name make , ok none of us are experts but how does changing the name change anything , ? surely everything will be still in the same place , wont it ? just curious ?

Ask the forum would then get all the main traffic over the lounge , not that it matters but i would say most stuff on here would then go into ask the forum , because in fairness most are questions ..

I keep hearing how stuff is in the wrong section , sure that is nothing to do with the forum set up , thats a user fault , changing names or adding stuff wont change that ,

I also dont get people geting in a huff over re occuring threads , esp from a new member , personaly there are loads of threads i wont even read because it has no intrest for me, doesnt bother me how many there are tho . just my opinion tho ,

Agree with you there Blade. Has no one heard of "experts by experience"? I've picked up some great tips from people who are far from experts but have been where I am and got past it and then share how.
