Does anybody play at moor allerton?

I'm playing there on friday with a mate from our club for free.

Any thoughts?

Its a good track designed by Robert Trent Jones, its three loops of 9. Not played it but others say its good. Been situated next to Moortown & Alwoodly both McKenzie courses its kinda shadowed by them.

I was a member there for a long time (from the age of about 8 until I was 24). It's a great course, very hilly, with some very good holes.

If you get a good drive away on the 5th you can reach in 2, but the green is guarded by water at the front, heavy rough over the back, trees on the right and OOB on the left. The 8th is long but a wide fairway and bunkers only round the green, but OOB all the way on the right.

The 19th and 27th both make you hit shots over a ravine, the 19th on your drive, and the 27th on your approach.

I'm jealous as I haven't played there since emigrating 15 years ago. Would like to rejoin but it's very expensive (£1300 a year the last time I looked)

It is an excellent course and a test of golf, always in superb nick. It's a toss up between there and Moortown as to the best course in Leeds, Lucky bugger. :)

Nice one for the tips slowhand.

I'm really looking forward to it hopefully the weather is good too.

I get free green fees at certain clubs affiliated to my club thats why its free!

I will try to do a review and some pics.

Cheers slowhand, i'm playing 36 holes probably 1-18 dinner then 10-27 so if its not too much bother that would be great.

thanks

Would be interested in your thoughts about the course as I'm off to Leeds in 2 weeks time and will be taking in a game.Played Alwoodley so Moortown is probably favourite but some good feedback for this place.

1) I've heard of it
2) It's no.97 in England (on top 100 golf courses)

must be rubbish!

Can't wait to hear how it is.....should be excellent.

What a track this is!

If anybody ever has chance to play here they must.

We played 10-27 first off which in my opinion is the best 18, tees were soft, well cut and prepared, fairways had good 1st and 2nd cut, well looked after fairways and the greens were fantastic.

Its not the easiest of tracks so a good drive is important on most holes to give you a chance. Theres plenty of raised greens and a fair bit of drink but not too much to spoil it.

The 1st 9 is a bit flat compared to 10-27 but still a tough 9.

The clubhouse is great with a good selection of food and drink (kronenbourg on draught ;)) and well stocked pro shop with a titliest c/f cart.

All in all a great track that must be played.
