3rd shout for Mauritius

Unbelievable quality & variety on such a small island

Could easily be mistaken as resort golf due to the hotels but its all championship standard tracks (that attract actual championships comps) & add in the facilities & service to shame many

Most courses boast internationally known figures as being part of the design & the weather is still a challenge with hot & humid influenced by strong winds that can come in & don't forget the occasional wet round (its a tropical island after all) but even the wettest day doesn't dampen the experience. Its just a shame I can only get out a handful of times each month

This weekend it's http://http://www.heritageawali.mu/en/golf.php :D

I've played there and it's a very nice track, challenging with a great variety, maybe not up with Le Touserrok but not bad. Surely you would want to play a track in Scotland with 100 miles an hour winds, temperature at 2.0 degrees and wind chill at -10 just so you can have a links experience, not that you'd see it with your eyes watering so much in the wind:whistle:

Yeah lucky enough to call Le touessrok my home course it’s a great place that will chew you up if you’re arrogant enough to only buy one sleeve of balls (but reward you with an incredible vista to lift you up again)

Re Scotland, I’ve played countless times (mostly round Fife) and recall Hogmanay golf in howling conditions (FC ball even ending up behind the tee after a high drive into oncoming gale) frost balls stuck to cleats in November & soaked through in July/August

On a separate note Scotland may be the symbolic ideal of golf but there are too many examples of courses, clubs & service levels that are not what golf should be (in relation to the cost)

I’ve had to jog the 2nd at Eden after being chased by the marshal on the first
I’ve seen a pro shop consistently closed midweek during office hours at a course that describes itself as USGA standard
I’ve played where the fairways are covered in daisies enough to lose your ball
Poor drainage on far too many courses
Pack em, rack em & stack em, tee spacing’s
Clubhouses that resemble community centres & just as bleak

& many good experiences too, but the bad ones stick in the memory

Give me a course & service level that matches the cost anytime

I've only played in Northern Ireland and the Republic. The variety has been everything from mature Parklands to heathland/links mix to out and out links.

Bar better weather I can't see many countries offering more choice.

This is absolutely classic - how are you in any position to judge if you haven't tried anywhere else. In the countries I have played I continue to be surprised about the difference in golf experience from the super service in the US and Mauritius to the floodlighting in Delhi. I wonder how many people voted for their favourite destination never having been anywhere other than home.

Some really excellent courses in Canada especially in PEI but I have played Deerhurst and St Andrews in Ontario which are really challenging and scenic but accesible as well as welcoming!

Living in central-ish Scotland gives me easy access to so many great courses on the East and West Coasts and a few hours from the North East of Scotland.

If it only it was warm and Sunny all year round :one:

I'm not but neither do I claim to be. I would love the opportunity to play golf in the US or floodlight golf in Delhi. Bar a lotto win that isn't going to happen.

This poll is actually going to be pretty loaded what ever way you look at it. I'm sure there are plenty have answered GB&I without having played anywhere else or had very limited experience else where. The only people who can truly answer this poll are going to be those that have played in every area listed and done so extensively because if would be unfair to judge a area based on one round at one course.

It asks a question. "What is your favourite worldwide golfing location?". I have answered based on what I have been able to experience. GB&I is my favourite worldwide location. It would take something very very special to change that choice. I know I can play a lot of quality courses of different types all within a 2hour drive of my home (if I go to the right one that is) including some top class courses without paying a kings ransom.

Don't get better courses than the Scottish and Irish classic links.

Cornwall.
I know I'm biased but having two of the top 100, some cracking hidden gems and being able to play all year round is enough for me.

US for me everytime. Overall quality of courses and practice facilities are superb. I love links golf as its truest test of our game, but prefer the US.
