My favourite is the US, partly because of the weather but also the variety. The US has always had some majestic, if sometimes rather inaccessible, courses. It has also had a lot of utterly forgettable samey courses, mostly in Florida, but we will ignore those. In recent years, with architects like Tom Doak and the team of Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, there isnow a new wave of wonderful courses such as Bandon, Streamsong, Sand Hills, Rock Creek and so on which encourage walking with or without caddies. In the US, the service is almost always great too.

found it strange you had Spain and continental Europe as separate options.. Anyhoo..

I went Continental Europe as my favorite place is Portugal. can not beat the weather, wide array of courses, the friendly peoples and of course 1 Euro bottles of ice cold Super Bock. Happy days.

As with the other poll this month the winner has to be Scotland.

Had to go GB & I - but we really should have had the option of voting for individual home countries - because the obvious answer is Scotland. Golf in it's home country, played as it should be. Where you can find true links courses by the sackful. Where top quality comes at a reasonable price. And it may come as a surprise to many, but the weather is generally OK (have been going for many a year and have only got properly wet on a handful of occasions - perhaps I've been lucky?) and in any case, you can wear a coat. Throw in the fact it's the home of whisky too and you have it. And for the record, you can filter my genes as much as you like, you'll find nothing more northern than the River Trent. That's the best bit - Scottish golf with the need to be Scottish :)

Prefer the courses in the UK, especially in Scotland coz they're so quiet. Just wish they had the weather to match

I voted for continental Europe, Portugal is the place I would choose, this year will be our groups 7th trip away, 4 have been to Villamoura, the area around the marina, choice and quality of courses, only had 1 course from 11 no one was keen to go back to. (Salgados for anyone interested)

Coming from South Africa, I am obviously biased but my bias is based on my experiences there both as a resident and as a tourist.

The calibre of the courses is superb, the scenery breathtaking, the people friendly and the weather glorious. Where else can you play a round inside a National Park where wildlife such as lion and elephant roam the fairways? There are well known courses whihc grace the European Tour schedule such as Leopard Creek, Durban Country Club and The Gary Player Country Club at Sun City.

Get out there and try it!!!

This is surely a no contest; how can it be anywhere else but GB & I? Links courses, the very soul of golf, that you don't get anywhere else in the world, and heathland courses as a pretty good second best. Shame about the weather at times, but you can't have everything.

I too am a Mauritius fan.

Le Tousserok is the best place I've played. On its own island with brilliant weather, great layout, amazing staff. Paradise

3rd shout for Mauritius

Unbelievable quality & variety on such a small island

Could easily be mistaken as resort golf due to the hotels but its all championship standard tracks (that attract actual championships comps) & add in the facilities & service to shame many

Most courses boast internationally known figures as being part of the design & the weather is still a challenge with hot & humid influenced by strong winds that can come in & don't forget the occasional wet round (its a tropical island after all) but even the wettest day doesn't dampen the experience. Its just a shame I can only get out a handful of times each month

This weekend it's http://http://www.heritageawali.mu/en/golf.php :D

US and Canada

For the service and variety..................went to Oregon and played the High desert, frost and minus 5 degrees in the morning then 25 degrees by 10am, stunning courses and 1st class service.
Played some public courses in Kentucky that would put some of our respected private ones to shame.

US, Florida in particular has some cracking courses (agree with Ethan where lots of samey courses) but lots of challenging tracks too. Service is great and it just becomes a great golf experience.

Weather is a bonus too.
