I ticked the box for long irons but the part of the game I've been most pleased with is scoring. I've usually varied the elements that are good and bad and my scoring has suffered as a result, but this year I've played most elements better and scrambled well when needed. Roll on next year!

I'm chuffed with the irons this yeah, long and short - changed my driver which was a bad mistake but now fortunately settled with an R1 now which on a windy at Siloth was in awesome form, but for me the most pleasing part of the game is hitting the irons well - don't mention the putting.. that's a work in progress of the coming winter

I think that I've managed to improve all areas of my game this year to some extent but probably driving has seen the biggest improvement.

Putting for me, I've not changed anything in my stance or swing, but something is working and it is nice when a friend who is a better golfer ask you for bit of help rather than myself asking him.

The change in my flight shape with the driver for me.

Used to be a fade/slice and with the 7 of the first 8 holes on my home course being potential driver holes with OB right that was not a good shape to have.

My driver shape is now straight/draw and the improvement it's brought about in my scoring has been massive.

You can say that again - I'd kill to be able to hit Driver like you Nick.......I hate you!!

I think you already can, you just don't seem to take the driver option very often.
Trying to remember your tee shots on Saturday I think you went with driver on 6 holes, you might not have been on the fairway every time but you always hit it a good distance and were never in trouble.
Believe! :)

Driving driving and driving again

Last month or two has seen a big drop in the number (and frequency) of times when its 3 off the tee

Only my second year playing so happy with just progressing at the moment.....

I voted for short irons.... Since I got fitted for my irons I feel much more confident over my approach shots!! My short game has improved recently too!

Only real disappointment is no handicap reduction..... This is probably down to me not playing enough comps due to work and family commitments..... Hopefully show to results 2014!!!

Going with four wedges and using a SkyCaddie has done wonders for my scoring from 120 yards and in.

Was also looking for the none of the above option, but had a quick look at my stats and noticed I averaged 31 putts over medal play this season, so not too shabby. Had 28 putts three times.

As a whole the season has been disappointing, but having a couple of very worthwhile lessons and getting my new irons has really kickstarted my enthusiasm for the game. Played weekend before last and for a spell of 7 holes in the middle of the round was one under gross, not bad off 18. Also hit 10 GIR that day away above my season average of 3 !!

So all in all looking forward to a more positive report card at this point next season.

I've been happiest with my driving. Switched driver at the start of the year and now have a more penetrating ball flight off the tee.

All you guys who are managing 30 putts or less a round, I'd love to have some of that. Think my average is just under 36 :(

Hi mcbroon, not seen you posting for a while so apologies if it's already been mentioned but are congratulations in order?

The only reason I have a low putting average is that I do not hit enough greens, so many of my shots are from just off the green, leading to many single putts.
