Re: Monthly poll 1: what part of your game have you been most pleased with this

You missed the "none of the above" choice....

Up to yesterday i would have said maybe the putting....!

Irons for me. New Pings i20's early Spring and after 3 months settling in and distance management they have saved my way wood drives lots of times this summer.

Putting has improved so much this year, Without that then all I would have had this year is 35 0.1's back. rest of game #garbage

deff putting.. got our pro to look at it about End July and it has come on heaps a bounds since.

trouble is the rest has gone missing;)

Driving for me as have struggled for what seems an age with it. My K15 driver has contributed a lot but also a couple of eureka moments which got me on plane and then able to give it a proper smack! Increased distance and accuracy and also being able to shape the shot according to the hole has really helped my game. Whilst it's not the be all and end all there is no doubt that getting off the tee consistently takes the pressure of other elements and builds significant confidence.

My putting has improved somewhat, but my long iron play is greatly improved, particularly from the fairway. It's given me more confidence going for greens from range, and even attacking pins from 180-220 (dependant on wind/elevation).

I picked long irons, but over all my iron play has been excellent this year.

Mainly down the the batch of lessons I had at the start of the year that got me into much better address posture and improved my takeaway and susequent position at the top.

As a result, my over-all play has improved, driving has for sure, but I've noticed it most with my irons.

Another one for driving here.

A change of grip and then remembering to retain grip at the top of the backswing has seem some drastic slicing turn into (and i kid thee not) some great looking drives. Well chuffed with my driving in fact and i have full confidence when reaching in the bag for it.

My putting however....

Changed all through the year - at the minute I'm most pleased with my improvement out of the bunker - it's not always close to the pin, but generally it's out and gives me at least a chance with a putt

Hard to pick as I've gone through stages of where they have all been shocking or been good, I'd say my irons in general are better as I'm constently striking them better than I have done.

I've gone for putting.

It's not the best part of my game, in fact I'd probably have it 2nd to last in that list.

For the first half of the year I tried lots of different putters trying to find something that suited my stroke.
In the end I gave up, bought a traditional anser type putter, and changed my stroke to suit it.

It's been coming along slowly but surely, and in the last month or so have got more comfortable with it so that I can now stand over a putt knowing the ball is going somewhere near the hole. The last 4 rounds have all had 29 putts and I think the shortest one I've missed was about 5'.

So it's not the best part of my game, but definitely the part I've become most pleased with this year.

I wanted to say my mental strength and ability to keep my head and still post a score in the face of golfing adversity but it's not an option so then I wanted to say my mid irons but I see I have to specify short or long!

What sort of poll is this
